[DIGImend-devel] Wrapping up DIGImend work

Hi everyone,

I would like to regretfully inform you that I'm wrapping up my work on the
DIGImend project. Within two months I'm going to stop all work on the project,
with the exception of accepting patches, as time allows, if a replacement is
not found. Meanwhile I will be focusing on syncing with upstream kernel and
writing HOWTOs on diagnosing problems and adding tablet support.

I have a Silvercrest tablet that's most likely a rebrand of this one:

As Bus 002 Device 005: ID 172f:0501 Waltop International Corp. Media Tablet
10.6"

And I'm getting crazy trying to get it to work 100%. The pen works
perfectly with the pressures lvls and all that, but the wheels are
whimsical at best - they've worked, stopped working and now are partially
working - only with sound most times, and at Linuxmint 18 the scroll option
works (mostly if plugged in at startup?). Installing the drivers makes no
difference.
I'd like it to work in 17.3 (the 18 is incompatible with a program I use),
but I'm not sure it will, so I've tried it at live version, but the
kernel's too low...
I've tried normal ubuntu before, and at first worked, then a version later
didn't and well... I'm running out of ideas.

Anyway to get it working in 17.3? Is there a OS in which it works well?
Lastly, is there a way to get the macros working? They're the K# numbered
things around the workspace, in windows we can assign shortcuts to then
(undo,redo were favorites)...

I have the disk with the windows drivers if it helps...

Hi Prashant,

If you're still interested in getting buttons on your tablet supported, please
run "uclogic-probe" on it, and then, without reconnecting the tablet, or
rebooting, collect and send the output of "usbhid-dump" where you press the
buttons in order, turn the wheel counterclockwise and clockwise, plus click
it, if it supports that.

Ah, a nice effect. I don't remember how the tablet reports the buttons in the
default configuration, so can't say right now why that happens. Let's focus on
fixing the properly-enabled state.

I think we can figure this out. IIRC, when Benjamin (CC'd) implemented
abstract button support, we only had tablets with eight or less buttons to
test with, and so more buttons didn't get supported. Now we can finally figure
it out with your help.

Could you please send us the output of uclogic-probe, and after running that,
without rebooting or reconnecting your tablet, also the output of usbhid-dump,
where you would press each button in order, left-to-right, top-to-bottom?

running Fedora 23, kernel 4.5.6, tablet is a 1060PLUS, the one with 12 buttons,
 
with the mainline hid_uclogic tablet and pen are working, the buttons all do some strange
mouse movement (all moving to some place at top left of the screen but slightly diff. place)
all 12 send some event i can see with evtest.
mainline and xinput give me "↳ 1060PRO Pen stylus" but no pad, yes i know it says 1060PRO
instead of 1060PLUS so i tested the digimend driver with /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-huion.conf
matching 1060PRO like this:

I took a look at the hid-recorder output and couldn't see the in-range bit
change at all, so we can't do anything about it as such.

It might be possible that the user haven't actually removed the pen from the
tablet surface in that trace, but I doubt it.

I also doubt this is a hardware fault, although it is possible.

I'd like to see usbhid-dump output with the driver not loaded (blacklisted),
so the tablet is in its default (power-on) state and we talk to it directly.
I'll need some strokes in that output, with the pen removed from the tablet
in-between.

we have a bug report[1] with a faulty Huion 1060Pro. I requested the
hid-recorder output of the pen, and it seems that the InRange field is
always set to 1. This is a problem for libinput as we expect BTN_TOOL
to be sent when entering/exiting proximity.

Is this something you already have seen? and is this something fixable?
