the virus is not in the installation file itself
but in the .exe files generated by it...
you have to install the thing for the virus scanner to
detect it... AVG detects it also.
Since it "just appeared" recently this message can either
means...
a) a real virus (it took months for the definition to be
included in anti-virus software... wow)
b) an attempt by the company to remove existing copies
of its software... (god knows why)
I'm not fond of conspiracy theories but it's weird.

download the new dialect version by guilect and it will
solve your problem (the virus)
it is just that some code resembles a virus type of code in
the file

I have had the same problem, I used to use Dialect some
years ago and still have the install files the I
downloaded from Aristar website. It ran perfectly well
when I last used it..
Yesterday, I installed the Win32 descktop files,
downloaded from Sourceforge, as soon as installation
finished, AVG detected the Virus. I then un-installed it
and tried installing the original that I amnaged to find
on a backup CD. As soon as it finished Installing, AVG
reported the Virus.
Today, I downloaded the dialect source files and compiled
them with Visual C++ from Microsoft.
It now runs without problem. It could be that there is
indeed a virus inside the Sourceforge Bin files for this
project.
