I am having some trouble getting the server to come up when I am not connected to the net. I am running WinXP (SP2). My WiFi is disabled, my hardwired port is statically configured to 192.168.1.254, my network cable is unplugged. The Windows Network Connections window shows the Local Area Network as "cable unplugged". That is all as expected. I have the following in my DualServer.ini file:
[LISTEN-ON]
127.0.0.1
And yet I get this in the log:
Warning: Section [LISTEN-ON], Interface 127.0.0.1 not available, ignored
I can ping 127.0.0.1 (it's the loopback interface - I'm not surprised)
So... my question, why can't the Dual DHCP/DNS server run on the loopback interface when the cable is unplugged?
I also tried to set the [LISTEN-ON] to 192.168.1.254 and that didn't work either.
I have specific reasons for wanting this to work in either a connected or disconnected state. Can anyone offer some suggestions?
Thanks,
David

Since posting this, I have found two work-arounds:
1) Install the Microsoft software loopback driver/adapter:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839013
2) Create a loopback cable
http://www.tikkiweb.net/loopback
NOTE: You need only connect pins 1 to 3 (orange/white to green/white) and pins 2 to 6 (orange to green).
