I could imagine that the poster means: the file time stamp gets modified after geotagging. Before, it is (for me always) the time of taking the picture. After geotagging, the file time stamp gets reset to the current time. A toggle button would be cool: "Set file time stamp to geocoded time? Yes [do this] No [restore original time stamp]. I already thought about a small Perl script to set the file modification time stamp to its time from the geoposition.

Please provide more information.
Geocoding is the process of inserting the latitude/longitude into the exif of photos, so I don't see how it is related to filenames.
Maybe you could attach / send a screenshot to show what you mean?
