Hi, I've got problems specifying individual thresh() parameter in bb-hosts. The documentation says to configure the thresholds using equal signs and the example uses colons. However neither works for multiple thresholds. E.g. the following doesn't work and returns errors like: # ./devmon --readbbhosts Use of uninitialized value in hash element at /mnt/local/usr_local/devmon/modules/dm_config.pm line 1939, <HOSTS> line 40. thresh(temp;chassisTempTop;y:52,temp;chassisTempTop;y:52;r:55) thresh(temp;chassisTempTop;y:52,temp;chassisTempTop;y:52) When looking at the generated web status report the threshold for chassisTempTop is reported as "52temp". How do I specify multiple individual thresholds? Hi , I having trouble making a new devmon monitoring scritp. My purpose is to monitor remote vpn session on a Cisco asa 7.2 firewall. I am working on MIB CISCO-REMOTE-ACCESS-MONITOR-MIB that you can browse online at http://www.emnico.com/mib/mibsearch.php?mib=CISCO-REMOTE-ACCESS-MONITOR- MIB I am able to get and display various type of info (IP Address Group Session Duration Session transfert (Octets) ...) But I cant find a way to display the username of the session' owner. The oid seems to be crasUsername : 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.392.1.3.21.1.1 according to http://www.emnico.com/mib/mibsearch.php?mib=CISCO-REMOTE-ACCESS-MONITOR- MIB&node=1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.392.1.3.21.1#sel1 . Hello , I found an installation doc in google cache http://209.85.135.104/search?q=cache:oJqlZAUng90J:cerebro.victoriacollege.edu/hobbit-trap.html+hobbit+snmp+trap&hl=fr&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=fr&client=firefox-a, but I still have some misunderstandings. the document indicates that you have to parse then convert the mibs so the snmptrapd can understand correctly the trap sent. my debian has an snmptranslate command, but no snmpttconvertmib command. How can I get this command ? is there a repository (appart from the devmon template), where we could share the snmptt.conf.* files, so it could be easier for devmon beginners to test quickly their snmp config with a converted file ? thanks. |

Hi All, I have devmon setup and working correctly but have a situation that I don't know how to handle. Here is the situtation: 1. A new template for monitoring a Spectracom Netclock 9283 (NTP appliance) - I am running Hobbit 4.2.0 with all-in-one patch 2. Two branch (repeater) oids setup that go into a table for the message 3. There is 1 item in the branch of ntpTestName (GPS Antenna Sense) that I do not want included in the message or alerting, as it is always RED 4. I added an exception entry to remove GPS Antenna Sense (AND IT WORKED) 5. PROBLEM: The status page still shows RED even though GPS Antenna Sense is not displayed I need this page to show GREEN and not alert on GPS Antenna Sense but don't know how to remove that. I am trying to add another node but when I add it, it doesn't pick up but 4 tests. I have 4 nodes now in my setup and before they averaged 800 tests each but now with the 4th node they should average 600. How do I go about getting the the tests load balanced across 4 nodes? I have looked at the "--resetowners" option but there isn't any documentation on it. I tried running it on the master node or display node. And then go through restarting the processes on the other nodes. But the 4th node just comes back on the other 3 log files as: 08-09-04@07:50:27] Node 4(gsonc-spg-ops-6) has died! Any help greatly appreciated? --Josh |

You don't provide the version of devmon you are using, but it would seem that you haven't configured the pidfile value in devmon.cfg, or the pid file configured there contains something it shouldn't, or similar. The code before line 272 in current source does some checks on the pid file, and I can't think off-hand what could cause this error (without logging something about it). > Use of uninitialized value in kill at > /home/users/hobbit/application/server/ext/devmon/modules/dm_config.pm line > 276. > [08-08-27@08:58:48] Devmon already running, quitting. > > > But these commands work very well : > > ./devmon --readbbhosts -vvv > ./devmon --readbbhosts -vvvvvvvv --debug > > Do you have any idea for help to solve my issue ? Check what you have for pidfile in devmon.cfg, and investigate the file itself ... Regards, Buchan |

Hello guys, I have a issue with devmon. I have migrated my server devmon 7.10 to 8.04 Since this last update, devmon don't work : ( I have reinstall Devmon (tar.gz) + SNMP_Session-1.12.tar.gz ; but without succes and when I execute this command : root@serverhobbit# ../../bin/bbcmd 2008-08-27 08:58:26 Using default environment file /home/hobbit/server/etc/hobbitserver.cfg sh-3.2# ./devmon -f -p -vvvvvvvvvvvvv Use of uninitialized value in scalar chomp at /home/users/hobbit/application/server/ext/devmon/modules/dm_config.pm line 272. Use of uninitialized value in kill at /home/users/hobbit/application/server/ext/devmon/modules/dm_config.pm line 276. [08-08-27@08:58:48] Devmon already running, quitting. But these commands work very well : ./devmon --readbbhosts -vvv ./devmon --readbbhosts -vvvvvvvv --debug Do you have any idea for help to solve my issue ? Thank you by advance. -- <mailinglist.benoit - at - gmail!com> |

Hi, the memory template for Cisco equipment does not seem to generate alarms as {mem_used_per.errors} or similar in missing in the messages file. Secondly I am of the opinion that the threshold calculation for if_err and if_dsc tests is not sensible. An error/packet ratio would be better as it is very unlikely to have a high error/bit ratio. E.g. 10 packets (500 bytes each) have to be transmitted and all of them fail. We would have an error load of .0250 which is far away from the threshold despite 100% loss. I am seeing this in my rrd-status.log 2008-08-18 10:33:02 RRD error updating /opt/hobbit/data/rrd/gsoncit-wns-2950-3/if_load.Fa0_24.rrd from 165.237.105.30: expected 1 data source readings (got 2) from 1219069982:93493833310:67142126420 And I am not getting any graphs created for the if_load column at all. Anyone have any ideas? -Josh |
