Hi, I have one of three devmon pollers that keeps going purple, every few hours or so. Running wireshark shows it completely stops communicating with the xymon server. Is there a fix to this other than restarting it every time it goes purple, or restarting it ever X hours? Thanks, Tom This E-mail and any of its attachments may contain Time Warner Cable proprietary information, which is privileged, confidential, or subject to copyright belonging to Time Warner Cable. By the way, I must have my CONFIG settings wrong in the weathermap script, I had to change the above to: CMD $BBHOME/ext/weathermap -c /FULL/PATH/TO-XYMON/etc/weathermap.conf The weathermap.png is not being created automatically in the correct place as a result and using $BBHOME/etc/weathermap.conf did not work :-( >> >> 4. Since the example weathermap.conf locations for the images were already prefixed with images, I've just pointed this at the www/weathermap directory. I will cleanup the .conf later and remove this, then repoint back to www/weathermap/images. Thanks! >> Yet, I have no such directory or file. Should I create one? > > Copy the images directory from the source tarball there? Yes, the name ICON had confused me a bit, got it working as above. On a side-note, I've noticed that my weathermap/index.html page when created, contains some extraneous characters, the top of the page contains: Content-type: text/html This is hidden by the java menu from Xymon. And I am seeing a "\n" in the left middle-left side of the HTML output, which I've tracked to this in the HTML source: <table border=0> <tr> <td><a href="weathermap.html"><img src="weathermap.png" width="100%" height="100%" border="0"></a></td> </table>\n<BR><BR> By the way, I am using Xymon 4.3.0-0.beta2 Regards again, .vadim |

Buchan; This looks even easier than I had anticipated, thanks for saving me from first installing MRTG. Just a few questions, hopefully you won't mind too much: 1. I do not have, nor am I able to find, optipng. Can I simply replace it (within the perl script) with pngcrush? If now, where and how do I install optipng from? 2. Within the weathermap.conf, BB is defined as the bb that lives in the ~xymon/client and not the ~xymon/server directory, was this an oversight? Does it matter? 3. I've added weathermap to my hobbitlaunch.cfg as follows: [weathermap] ENVFILE $BBHOME/etc/hobbitserver.cfg CMD $BBHOME/ext/weathermap LOGFILE $BBSERVERLOGS/weathermap.log INTERVAL 1m Looks OK? 4. What is ICONDIR? Is it the same as the weathermap/images directory? I have mine set as: $ICONDIR = "$ENV{'BBHOME'}/etc/weathermap"; Yet, I have no such directory or file. Should I create one? Now off to try and understand the weathermap.conf and all of the additional features that are inside of it. Hello Bunchan, First of all sorry to not write to the list first. The revision 6222 compiled well. I will keep monitoring if other hobbitd_rrd fatal errors occurs again. When you say "use the version in xymon / hobbitmon 4.3.0 branch svn" where I can get this version? What's the difference between branch and beta2? I would like to be a contributor of henrik xymon. I've made a lot of customizations and reports that I think can improve xymon tool. Best regards, Mario. You can create templates manually, as documented in the docs/TEMPLATES file. In the extras directory in svn is a script that could help you automate part of the process. I had started on a template for HP printers, but I haven't had time to finish it yet. If you do create templates, please contribute them back by filing an enhancement item on the tracker with category "Templates" and attaching a tarball or svn diff. Regards, Buchan |

Hi, from time to time some systems show very high traffic. I didn't find a regularity or dependency from other problems yet.
