This email is to inform you of release '2.2.7' of 'Samba' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/samba/ The changes in this release are as follows: A security hole has been discovered in versions 2.2.2 through 2.2.6 of Samba that could potentially allow an attacker to gain root access on the target machine. The word "potentially" is used because there is no known exploit of this bug, and the Samba Team itself has not been able to craft one. In addition to addressing this security issue, this release also includes thirteen unrelated improvements. Project description: The Samba software suite is a collection of programs that implements the SMB protocol for unix systems, allowing you to serve files and printers to Windows, NT, OS/2 and DOS clients. This protocol is sometimes also referred to as the LanManager or Netbios protocol. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page.
