This email is to inform you about the release of version '4.0.16' of
'shadow' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can

The changes in this release are as follows:
A better fix was made for the old CERT VU#312962 bug in userdel.
userdel now uses login.defs::MAIL_DIR instead of a hardcoded value of
/var/mail. userdel was rewritten to use getopt_log(), and nscd is
properly notified to flush its cache. passwd and login now use the
system's getpass() function instead libshadow_getpass(). pgck and
grpck produce a warning when the members of a group differ in
/etc/groups and /etc/gshadow. In login, the login timeout is
cancelled after authentication. chgpasswd was fixed to build
correctly with --disable-shadowgrp. Many updates and cleanups were
done in the man pages.

The Shadow password file utilities package includes the programs
necessary to convert traditional V7 UNIX password files to the SVR4
shadow password format, and additional tools to maintain password and
group files (that work with both shadow and non-shadow passwords).
