Thanks for your reply. Sorry bout the bad posting, it was a long day, wasn't thinking very clearly. Also, I wasn't sure if I wanted to bother the developers with a build question, from what I have seen it looked more like a list for fixing bugs etc.. I'll use that list next time. I have been playing around with the LFS system from their website and started looking at your system. I just wanted to snag the build scripts so I had something to work from; I realize this will take some work. I just hate to have 4 or 5 G4's lying around with nothing to do. I have some slackware and gentoo servers running around, but I like the 'OS from CD' idea, makes for a much better firewall. Again, thanks for your reply and tips... Any other commentary or criticisms are more than welcome. No. Sourceforge sometimes has problems, so just try again a couple hours or a day later. Usually it works after that.... > Pardon my noobieness with cvs, I don't use it that often.. > > I also wanted to see if anyone else had been attempting this adventure > into the PPC relm. As fas as I know, nobody ever attempted this. But you got some more work to do here: 1) you need to get the build running on a Intel machine, so you understand how the whole process works. 2) you need to create a new lfssystem build environment for PPC. 3) build system scripts have to be modified to support PPC, because right now it's only Intel x86. I had on my list to add support for selection of the AMD CPUs, but have no idea when I get to this. 4) do a lot of testing 5) send in all the patches so we can put it in CVS --=20 Regards Heiko Zuerker http://www.devil-linux.org |
