You can compile DL for kernel 2.4 but not 2.6?

Where does it abort?  On the kernel compile?

I'm running SuSE 9.1 (2.6 kernel based), and haven't had any problems
compiling a 2.4 DL, but I haven't tried compiling a 2.6 DL.
