upgrade-config seems to work fine on a single CPU machine, but fails every time on a SMP box. I tried it on two different SMP boxes. Right after upgrade-config completes, it prompts for the user to enter the runlevel, and then the system dies (no processes running). Heiko, At the end of upgrade-config, you added something like: cat newconfig/etc/inittab | sed .... > newconfig/etc/inittab I suspected that a SMP box was wiping out inittab before sed got to do it's thing, and sure enough. This works fine: sed ... tmp/ISO/cdtree/sbin/upgrade-config > newconfig/etc/inittab.new mv -f newconfig/etc/inittab.new newconfig/etc/inittab I committed the change to 1.1. I don't know if it code is in 1.0, so I'll let you take care of that. Second bug: upgrade-config seems to always select /etc/init.d/* files that have changed to be copied over by default. They shouldn't be selected IMO. Maybe because older installations didn't have the date on those files set to 1980? Or why? Should I manually exclude them, except for firewall.rules? - BS |
