The PSCHED_CPU is supported only when CONFIG_X86_TSC is selected in kernel so it does not work with all 586 CPUs. But there's a condition catching this situation in scripts/configuration/prepare.config . If I switch kernel CPU from 686 to 586 then PSCHED_CPU is changed to PSCHED_JIFFIES automatically.
