Some programs are only available as binaries anyway (like java). When you add a harddisk to your DL box, you can simply put those binaries on there and set the appropriate path / environment variables. I saw on the GRSecurity forum that some people had issues with java, but that's worth a test. When things have to get compiled, this will make it a bit more complicated but we should get it running. The benefit of getting stuff compiled in our build environment is, that all the stuff like stack smashing protector and address space randomization increases the security.
