I didn't try that way, what i did is as written in the doc ;-)
  
cvs -d:pserver:ano...@cv...:/cvsroot/devil-linux 
login 
and 
cvs -z3 -d:pserver:ano...@cv...:cvsroot/devil-linux 
co -r rel-1-0-patches build

...

what did i do wrong ?
