Hello, In the 1.4rc6 the new lines a commented in the /etc/init.d/beep scripts. So it does not work "out of the box". If you uncomment them it works. Thanks for the modifications. > I added it to CVS. > I didn't get a chance to validate it myself yet, so I hope this works. ;-) > Heiko |

Hey, running DL in VMWare works fine, so it's probably just some configuration issue. Here are a few pointers: - Set the CD-ROM to IDE and mount the ISO directly. - use the 1.44 MB floppy image for the config and let VMWare create the image right away (not sure if the old 5.5 let's you do that). - Make sure all the CD and floppy devices are set to 'connect at boot'. - Boot DL with the 'empty config' when it asks and then format the floppy. - Get the latest DL version from our FTP server, Sourceforge will have the RC6 within the next day. Hello, I am testing devil linux 1.4rc4 using vmware 5.5 workstation. I've added the cd iso as a bootable cd. When I start up the vm I select the usb flash drive I want to save config to but eventually get an error message saying the devil linux cd can not be found. I also tryed using a vm blank floppy image which was not recognised. Any suggestions would be great. thanks remus. |

Hey, It seems dovecot v2 doesn't play nicely with our glibc-2.5.1. The auth process keeps segfaulting on libcrypt-2.5.1.so I can try and get it resolved with the dovecot developers, but that'll mean further delays of DL 1.4RC6. Do you guys want me to rather switch back to dovecot 1.2 ? Emil, 'MAC' parameter is optional in DL. In Red Hat-like distributions network configuration script distinguish NICs based on HWADDR(MAC) address in the network script, but in DL it has a different sense: it redefines MAC address. i.e. 'DEVICE' is paramount parameter: since udev holds the map "device name - mac address" (and udev makes it on early stage of booting) we can rely on device names. I've added a few words about this specific to *.sample file. I did something like that with 4 interfaces when we had two different security concerns but most people would not need more than 3 ports (DMZ, INTERNET, LOCAL) I don't remember if those are still called that. I needed a LOCAL2. What I did was use FWBuilder to generate the firewall rules and put them in the init directory. Your DEVICE=ethX needs to correspond to the correct ifcfg-ethX file name. Your example below has all DEVICE=eth0. Also, are all of your nics the same hardware? The MODULE=8139too needs to correspond to the correct nic driver module for the hardware used.
