It has usb_modeswitch 0.1.3 included, but dynamically linked and It requires a different libusb version to be installed: /tmp/sakis3gz.18844.usb_modeswitch: error while loading shared libraries: libusb-0.1.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I had tried to compile a static version of usb_modeswitch earlier today, but libusb is only available as a dynamic library, it seems. On OpenSuse 12.2, there are two versions of libusb, one is (by package description) a compatibility layer for the new version 1.0 which is also found in DL. I manually tried to link usb_modeswitch to the new version, but that failed. I'd say usb_modeswitch is an important piece of software for a modern router, so its functionality should be included in DL. But if it really depends on an older libusb version, that could be a problem... cu Roland |

Hi, I am currently moving and trying to stay online using a HSDPA USB Stick. My problem is, that the surf stick first shows itself as a storage medium to install drivers (for windows). The usb-modeswitch program ( http://www.draisberghof.de/usb_modeswitch/ ) is used to switch the stick into modem operation, but it is not included in DL. It is said that sometimes a simple "eject" on the virtual storage device can accomplish a mode switch, but that program is also not available. Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Thanks, Roland |

Hi, I have an strange issue with devil-linux 1.6.2_x86-64. The machine run virtualized on proxmox-pve (kvm) and has two HDDs assigned, one normal sized for devil-linux and a big one for archive-data. On the big-one was an gpt-label and is also used for lvm2. During the tests all runs fine, so I increase the big volume (7T) - after resizing the partition no lvm-info was accessible. Perhaps there goes something wrong. I create a new gpt-label, pv, vg and lv and resync the data again. But after an reboot all data was gone... If I start the machine with an grml-live-cd the lvm-data is there. On devil-linux I can't see any uuid on the big partition - exept I change the partition-table with parted - after that the blkid is visible and lvm is working!! The same happens with ide-disk instead of virtio. Any hints? I decided to finally jump in to IPv6 with my devil-linux firewall. Using latest stable version of 1.6.2 with the free IPv6 tunneling service from Hurricane Electric where they will assign up to five /64 IPv6 networks. I was not able to configure the LAN interface with an IPv6 address using /etc/sysconfig/nic/ifcfg-ethX. Found that configuring the IPv6 address using the IPV6ADDR variable did not work at boot. When one or more addresses were configured, I received "RTNETLINK Operation not permitted". However running same command after boot (ip -6 addr add $v6addr dev $DEVICE) worked fine. Found problem due to "ipv6" module was not loaded prior to configuring interface addresses. The ipv6 module is loaded later on in /etc/init.d/network if START_IPV6_ROUTING is turned on in master config. However, that is done after the section to add IPv6 addresses (and routes) from the interface config files. I applied a workaround in boot.local to load ipv6 module in advance of running network rc script. A better solution might be for the network script to make sure ipv6 module is loaded prior to adding any IPv6 addresses or routes from the interface config files (similar to START_IPV6_ROUTING section). Let me know if I overlooked something that prevented me from having to preload ipv6 module with boot.local. Be glad to assist with any changes/testing. - Rick P.S. Appreciate efforts in maintaining devil-linux firewall. Been a fan/content user for quite some time. |

Serge, Ok, i might try that! My problem is that i need to add a custom etc-mods.tar.bz2 to the Devil-Linux bootcd.iso while it is stored on a windows system. The problem with this is that if i remaster the iso with the windows version of mkisofs i loose the linux specific rock ridge information - and hence cannot boot the iso correctly. So the squashfs thing i am trying now is really sort of a workaround :-) regards, Johnny On Thu, Aug 23, 2012 at 10:02 PM, Serge Leschinsky < ser...@gm...> wrote: > Johnny, > > afaik, htere is no tools to make a livecd with squash'ed filesystem, but > you can > boot from disk (usb-flash or any other drive) and use bootcd.squash image > instead of ISO. > > Serge > > On 08/23/2012 12:48 PM, Johnny Vestergaard wrote: > > Heiko, i managed to get it working. Johnny, afaik, htere is no tools to make a livecd with squash'ed filesystem, but you can boot from disk (usb-flash or any other drive) and use bootcd.squash image instead of ISO. Heiko, i managed to get it working. "make clean" seems to be my new friend :-) One last thing, i noticed that you can configure devil-linux to output in squashfs format (bootcd.squash), are there any tools included to create a livecd which boots from bootcd.squash? Johnny, Yes you have the right steps. Some distributions have security features enabled, which may cause build problems. Hei Heiko, Yeah, im inside the chroot :-). Just to make sure, can you confirm that this is the correct way to build the system: 1. Download and extract lfssystem. 2. Inside root of lfssystem create a directory called data. 3. From the data directory fetch latest source using cvs. 4. update_src. 5. make menuconfig. 5. make unpack && make all. Hey, I successfully just finished a compile of both 32 and 64 bit versions of DL. Please make sure you got the latest CVS code and also sync with the FTP server again. Best Regards Heiko Zuerker -----Original Message----- From: Heiko Zuerker [mailto:he...@zu...] Sent: Friday, August 10, 2012 7:52 AM To: dev...@li... Subject: Re: [Devil-Linux-discuss] CVS symbolic name for rel-1.6.1 Johnny, Unfortunately the way our build system works, you won't be able to really compile the old version. It will always use the latest sources from the FTP server, just the build scripts are going to be the old version. I have on my list to change this, but it's doubtful that I'll actually have time to implement it. I started a clean test compile to see if I get the same error. Are you using the standard configuration? If not, it may be worth giving that a try first. This way we can make sure it's not a missing dependency and also that there's no issue with your build machine. I'll post here once my test compile either fails or completes. Johnny, Unfortunately the way our build system works, you won't be able to really compile the old version. Hi Heiko, I tried that already, dose the current state of HEAD compile at the moment? I followed the instructions for building, but ran into this: make[3]: Entering directory `/data/build/tmp/linux-3.2' CC [M] /data/build/tmp/xtables-addons-1.42/extensions/compat_xtables.o In file included from /data/build/tmp/xtables-addons-1.42/extensions/compat_xtables.c:18: include/linux/netfilter/x_tables.h:538: error: expected declaration specifiers or '...' before 'nf_hookfn' /data/build/tmp/xtables-addons-1.42/extensions/compat_xtables.c: In function 'xtnu_skb_make_writable': /data/build/tmp/xtables-addons-1.42/extensions/compat_xtables.c:477: error: implicit declaration of function 'skb_make_writable' make[4]: *** [/data/build/tmp/xtables-addons-1.42/extensions/compat_xtables.o] Error 1 make[3]: *** [_module_/data/build/tmp/xtables-addons-1.42/extensions] Error 2 make[3]: Leaving directory `/data/build/tmp/linux-3.2' I managed to get the source of 1.6.1 by checking out by date - and will give it a try. regards, Johnny On Thu, Aug 9, 2012 at 10:29 PM, Heiko Zuerker <he...@zu...> wrote: > Quoting Johnny Vestergaard <jk...@un...>: > > I am trying to get the source for rel-1.6.1 (need to customize it a bit). > > But i am having trouble finding the correct symbolic name for 1.6.1 in > the > > CVS repo. > > As far as i can see the latest release which has a symbolic name is > > rel-1.4.1. > > > > Any hints? > > Just use the main branch, which will give you the latest and greatest 1.6. > > -- > > Regards > Heiko Zuerker > http://www.devil-linux.org > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Live Security Virtual Conference > Exclusive live event will cover all the ways today's security and > threat landscape has changed and how IT managers can respond. Hi, I am trying to get the source for rel-1.6.1 (need to customize it a bit). But i am having trouble finding the correct symbolic name for 1.6.1 in the CVS repo. As far as i can see the latest release which has a symbolic name is rel-1.4.1. Any hints? Regards, Johnny |
