Hi there, I relatively new to DL and I'm facing the following problem. I'm searching a hook (e.g. a shell script or something) to run "ddup" after reconnection of an ADSL link due to forced disconnect of the provider. There's a german DSL-Router Howto that references the file "/etc/ppp/ip-up" to use for this matter and it states to just include the ddup command in this file. Unfortunately this file seems to have gone missing in an earlier release... ;) Can anyone point me to the right direction? --- Another thing just out of curiosity... Devil Linux is using seperate Firewall scripts for each NIC and the rules are directly written to the init script. Is there a reason why "iptables-save" and "iptables-restore" that are present on the distribution aren't used to save and restore iptables configuration for all NICs? Anyway... Thanks in advance... ;) Regards Tobias |

I made /sbin/test in the initrd file system and copied there insmode and modprobe (symlink) from modutils package. I modified load_modules script from "/sbin/modprobe $MODULE" to "/sbin/temp/modprobe $MODULE" as well. It seems working correctly. >> The option "BUSYBOX_CONFIG_FEATURE_INSMOD_KSYMOOPS_SYMBOLS" can >> affect too. But modprobe doesn't work anyway ( moreover it doesn't work at all in the clean 1.1.1 without busybox-1.1.1.fixes.patch). bb-1.1.1 was build without any problem. No script modification is required. It looks like a good candidate for update. -- Best regards, Serge mailto:fi...@in... |

Did you install the vmware tools or any of the vmware modules? I'm currently working on adding the support for the vmnetx (network) and vmmemctl (memory) modules. I'm waiting right now to here back from VMWare about including the sources in DL. This may actually make your system more stable. Other then that I can't really think of any problems. I'm using reiserfs for a decade now and never had problems with it. - -- Regards Heiko Zuerker http://www.devil-linux.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2 (GNU/Linux) iEYEARECAAYFAkQ1HlUACgkQUcytMSbs+YVYHwCgm0+lCwAthA0E8Rb7bM5rYu8H O5gAnRRnC6GHK/8CqV4nXtblhRn95/wk =eZiR -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

Hi All There are a bunch of unresolved symlinks in /etc/snort in the default config. Is this a bug or is this ment to be like this? Herbert |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, again! After a bunch of build problems from the 1.2 stable tree, i ran into another problem i do not understand for now. after installing some packages i got this: > make[1]: Entering directory `/data/build/tmp/samba-3.0.21c/source' > make[1]: *** No rule to make target `install'. Stop. > make[1]: Leaving directory `/data/build/tmp/samba-3.0.21c/source' The samba package compiled cleanly but install failed. How is the strategy to solve such kind of problems? I got such an error from other packages to (eg. lcd4linux) which i simply deselect in the menuconfig. But i don´t want this for all the packages :-| Thanks in advance, Olli -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with CentOS - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iD8DBQFENQRk724ZL5LNhNcRAjr1AJoDrH21s4FCPQ1n2uN0lSDhCPvywACeNOIP ytKWlOpeMAF3Y0Y6En8y52Q= =2JbB -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

Hi, i have a problem with a mailserver which run under DL 1.2.9 and i need a hint. The config: I start with a custom made 1.2.9 on a virtual machine on esx-server 2.5.2. The filesystem are normal devil-linux-lvms (/var/data, /var/imap, /var/spool and /opt). Formated as reiserfs. Following services are started: DISABLE_ECN=yes SET_FILE_PERM=yes JAIL_ENABLE=yes ENABLE_APM=yes START_SASLAUTHD=yes START_MYSQL=yes START_CRON=yes START_CYRUS_IMAPD=yes START_APACHE2=yes START_SSHD=yes START_PORTMAP=yes START_POSTFIX=yes START_SPAMD=yes UPDATE_CLAMAV=yes Our virusscanner is antivir. Apache: Web-cyradmin, Squirrelmail 1.4.6rc1. All Filesystems have enough free space. No heavy load on the machine. App. 40 Mailuser with 1000 Mails per day. The effects: after a while (weekly, in some cases daily) one of two things occurs: - The smtpd process died and the restart from the masterprocess failed: Apr 6 07:00:21 src@mailgate postfix/master[1472]: warning: /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd: bad command startup -- throttling Apr 6 07:01:14 src@mailgate postfix/master[1472]: warning: process /usr/libexec/postfix/smtpd pid 1047 killed by signal 11 - The MySql-Database crashed and is unpossible to restart the Database. Sometimes after a reboot all works, sometimes the mailqueue don't flush. Today after the next reboot many transactions for a reiserfs are displayed and the mysqld don't start. After the third reboot all works fine... for days or a week? I found nothing in the messages. What going wrong? I tried following: 1. change the vmware-server tho an other machine. 2. more memory for the virtual machine - from 256MB over 512MB to 768MB 3. change from the custommade Version tho the normal DL 1.2.9 4. change the vmfs-lun with the harddisk-file We have many DL-machines under vmware without any trouble (proxy, dhcp, web-server) but none of them running 1.2.9. The next try is a change of the filesystem (perhaps ext3). Have anybody an idea? Best regards Udo Lembke |

So to me it seems that there a bug in the startup script that reads > the INITRD_MODULES parameters. There is no bug in the _startup script_ unfortunately. If I try to load these modules from initrd manually I get the same error. I believe it's _busybox's modprobe_ bug. If I use busybox's modprobe for loading libata and sata_nv I have the problem you wrote about. But if I put modprobe from modutils package to initrd image I can load any _second_ module. I haven't SATA box just now for a more correct test but I'll do it in a few days. Heiko, what do you think about dynamical compiling busybox (anyway we link it against glibc, not uclibc ) and adding modprobe from modutils package (or building modprobe statically )? The option "BUSYBOX_CONFIG_FEATURE_INSMOD_KSYMOOPS_SYMBOLS" can affect too. I'm going to check how this option inclusion/exclusion affects modules loading. -- Best regards, Serge mailto:fi...@in... |

Is your CD drive hooked up to SATA too ? If not do the following: modify the file /etc/init.d/boot.local and add the modprobe for the necessary modules there. I think the problem is because of the fact, that we only have a subset of modules available in the initrd (due to space restrictions).
