Hi guys, I'm having a weird one here. This kills a load of daemons which really messes things up. Any ideas? Cheers Mat Hattersley |

Short update: If I boot the system with separate configuration media (i.e. on USB stick) it loads into RAM as expected. But if I start the system without configuration media (the CD is preconfigured before burning and has RUNFROMRAM=y option) then it still mounts the CD and runs from it. How can I fix this? Hello, My /etc/sysconfig/config file has RUNFROMRAM=y option enabled, but I see that my boot CD is still mounted and the root filesystem still runs from CD. Do I misunderstand the purpose of that option or something goes wrong? What I need is to boot the system from the CD or USB flash, remove the boot media and let the system run from memory. My compressed ISO image uses CRAMFS and is 76 MB in size. The host PC has 256 MB RAM. -- Best regards, Dmitry Komarov |

Dood day. I have upgraded from version 1.2.10 of Devil Linux to version 1.2.12 and i have seen, that is missing the library /usr/lib/iptables/libipt_layer7.so in this new version. This library was presented in version 1.2.10. Now this command and similar: iptables -m layer7 exits with: iptables v1.3.7: Couldn't load match `layer7':/usr/lib/iptables/libipt_layer7.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Is something new or different in version 1.2.12 than in version 1.2.10 ? Sorry, if this question was seen here before. I am new at this maillist, but I didn't find any similar question in archives. Thanks Jiri Motycka |

Sometimes things get messed up when you're doing testing. If you have strange problems, there are always 2 things you should do: 1) delete the lfssystem folder and unpack to have a fresh and clean build system 2) run 'make mrproper' to clean up build/tmp -- Regards Heiko Zuerker http://www.devil-linux.org |

I've changed most of the logrotate scripts to use it anyway. However it doesn't fix the underlying problem. I'm thinking, FWIW, that having a tempfs for jail communicating sockets which can be bind mounted where it's needed might solve these problems. Dick |

Anything helpful there? > Yes, it's stopping at build phase. Nothing more helpfull in the log except the statement that I have to have Python installed for jailkit to compile. I even tried to make a fake "done" flag for jailkit and wait for the other packages to compile first (it helped me in the past in some cases). But even if I try to build the jailkit as the last package - the same error there. -- Best regards, Dmitry Komarov IT Project Manager SIA CITYNET 22/24 - 500 Katolu str. Riga, LV-1003 Latvia |

Check the logs for jailkit and Python in /data/build/tmp/LOGS/build (in the LFS chroot). Anything helpful there? - BS |

Hello, I'm not quite new to devil-linux and have used the distro for several projects in the past. But it's always a pain when you want to rebuild it yourself - even the "stable" 1.2.xx branch. :( Now again I need to compile a smaller version of DL with reduced number of applications. But the build process stops at jailkit claiming I need to have Python installed. Any ideas? Python is enabled in .config file, base system is lfssystem-cvs-20030127-i486-stripped.tar.bz2 -- Best regards, Dmitry Komarov IT Project Manager SIA CITYNET 22/24 - 500 Katolu str. It's a very good imap server and can also do sasl authentication for postfix should you need it. Dick |

Hi All, Recently installed devil-linux-1.2.12, very handy distro. Want to deploy postfix mail-server (on my home router). Created an LVM2 volume (imap), mounts OK. Need help on how to configure postfix and where to put mail-queue (maildir). Also need some IMAP-server (courier-imap,dovecot, etc) to access the mail. TIA.
