Hi, Imagine my surprise when my changes to etc were gone on reboot !! I am thinking of a shutdown command that syncs the tar on the floppy. I am going to look into ethernet card detection, that seems to be the most vital missing item for a newbie distro since they probably wont know what they have on board. Also going to look over linuxfromscratch to see where they are coming from. Cheers, John Ps, still didnt get CVS to work right... passwds, not sure what they mean by a module. --- Heiko Zuerker <hz...@pr...> wrote: > > On 03/07/2002 04:17:05 PM John van V. wrote: > >Hi, notes client ?? > > > >You must still have a job !! :) Good for you. Nope! You have to execute save-config RTFM = Read The Fine Manual ;-) > > I am going to look into ethernet card detection, that seems to be the most > vital missing item for a newbie distro since they probably wont know what they > have on board. That would be sooooooo cool. But won't be included in the 0.5 release. We have currently a feature freeze, because I want to get a 0.5 Final. As soon as I get the chroot stuff running, I'll go ahead and finish the open tasks. After that a 0.5rc1 will come out. But go ahead and work on it, I'm more then happy to include it in the next release. > Ps, still didnt get CVS to work right... passwds, not sure what they mean by a > module. That's one thing that the person at the location of the firewall has to do because otherwise any hacker that mad it into the firewall somehow (maybe running an old version of DL) can now make change to your config on the floppy. -- MfG / Regards Friedrich Lobenstock ____________________________________________________________________ Friedrich Lobenstock FL226-RIPE Internetservices URL: http://www.fl.priv.at/ Email: fl...@fl... ____________________________________________________________________ |

Hi, gotta run but.. It didnt work with an IDE cdrom. I burned it using scsi emulation. The early release does boot. Hi, which version of DL are you currently using? IDE should boot without any problems, just the SCSI support is not finished yet. -- cu Heiko We are Penguin, Resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |

Do you have a harddisk installed? There is a bug in the 0.5b5 release, unplug the harddisk(s) from the IDE bus and try again. -- cu Heiko We are Penguin, Resistance is futile! http://www.devil-linux.org |

Hi, Our distro is not security specific. We are builing a cheap, almost free, educaional tool for linux and the internet in gemeral. Right... the linux society distro will parallel DL and hopefully the two will cross polinate rather than fork and go different directions. Linux from scratch is getting pretty popular so maybe a new set of standards will appear making a sort of family of these types of distros. Only good things !!
