Hey, I finally get round to sending in the files for adding pound to DL. To recap - The Pound program is a reverse proxy, load balancer and HTTPS front-end for Web server(s). Pound was developed to enable distributing the load among several Web-servers and to allow for a convenient SSL wrapper for those Web servers that do not offer it natively. Pound is distributed under the GPL - no warranty, it's free to use, copy and give away. Attached are the scripts for creating, installing and running pound in a jail under DL - just untar in the build directory. You will also have to get the actual pound source from the authors website at http://www.apsis.ch/pound/ The latest stable version is 1.9.4 Please take a look and let me know if there are any issues - I've been running this at one of my clients for a few months now as a front end to an Exchange server and haven't had any problems. Which reminds me, as soon as I get some time, I'm planning on putting some documentation together on using DL as a complete front end to Exchange.... time, time, time... Martin |

I've posted a message to the mailing list (with no response so far) and also opened up a bug report with them, but it could be a while before a solution. There is a third option - DL could revert back to coreutils 5.2.1. Martin |

Hey, Just can't get rid of me and openswan, but at least this time it is not a module issue ;-) This is not really a DL issue, but an issue with coreutils and in particular the "expr" function. Seems that since DL upgraded to coreutils 5.93, 'expr' handles the '*' character slightly differently. This has manifested itself when trying to start openswan and it fails with this error: /etc/init.d/ipsec start ipsec_setup: Starting Openswan IPsec 2.4.4... ipsec_setup: invalid interface `' in `ipsec0=eth0' Tracking this down, the error is in /usr/lib/ipsec/_startklips script and in particular with this line virt=`expr $1 : '\([^=]*\)=.*'` which should evaluate to ipsec0 with an input of ipsec0=eth0 for $1. In coreutils 5.2.1, this evaluates correctly. Not sure if this change in coreutils affects any other software, but it is something to keep in mind. And I still don't know how to get openswan running. Maybe because $s is not a valid test statement, when $f=$s , since it's
only the name of the perl extension.
What you could do is (very loose syntax):
- ----------------
do_compile=0
if "$f" = "$s"
do_compile=1
else
if `eval test $s`
do_compile=1
fi
fi
if $do_compile = 1
; compile
fi
- ----------------
It looks a bit cleaner and is easier to understand.

I've done it in another way. But it is very dirty yet - I haven't had time for
cleaning (really, I can't write a working "if" with 2 conditions (
logical AND) for some reason, so have to do it by adding return codes
:-\
while read line
do
f=`echo $line | cut -d' ' -f1 `
s=`echo $line | cut -d' ' -f2- `
# This is the logical AND :-(
ff=`test "$f" = "$s"`
ff=$?
ss=`eval test $s`
ss=$?
sum=`expr $ss + $ff`
if [ "$sum" -le "1" ]; then
echo $f
fi
done < ./perl-ext.1
I haven't investigated yet why something like this
if [ `test "$f" = "$s"` -a `eval test $s` ]; then
doesn't work.

There's actually only 1 place for compiling the perl extensions:
for EXT in $(cat $MYDIR/config/perl-ext | grep -v
"^#")
do
pushd $WORKDIR/perl-ext/$EXT*
echo "******** compiling perl extension
$EXT ********"
yes "" | perl Makefile.PL PREFIX=/usr ||
exit 1
strip_debug
make install || exit 1
popd
done
