This email is to inform you about the release of version '22.5.8-beta4' of 'LILO' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/lilo/ The changes in this release are as follows: This version allows USB drives to be marked "inaccessible", avoiding errors during the Volume ID scan. The same applies to hardware RAID controllers, where the underlying drives must not be confused with the RAID device. Software RAID1 partitions and codes are unaffected. This version fixes an issue where the 256 color bitmaps allowed specification of colors above 15. Project description: LILO is a Boot loader for Linux/x86 and other PC operating systems. It is responsible for loading your Linux kernel from either a floppy or a hard drive and passing control to it. It is capable of booting beyond cylinder 1024 of a hard disk if the BIOS supports EDD packet call extensions to the int 0x13 interface. LILO can also be used to boot many other operating systems, including DOS, Windows (all versions), OS/2, and the BSD variants. The LILO distribution includes full source, documentation and support files. If you would like to cancel subscription to releases of this project, login to freshmeat.net and choose 'home' from the personal menubar at the top of the page. You'll be presented with a list of projects you're subscribed to in the right column, which you may cancel by highlighting the project in question and clicking the 'delete' button. Sincerely, freshmeat.net |

Hey, that hostap problem is interesting, as Bruce found out earlier, it compiles fine when I start it after everything else is done. I'll keep searching... cya Heiko |

Hey, poweroff is finally working. In the Kernel config we had turned on that the system only uses the realmode_poweroff. The changes will be included in the next release. cya Heiko |

Hey, I got it working! The trick was to create the very first one (boot) and the force ( -f ) the creation of the links. ln -sf ../boot $ETCDIR/etc/init.d/rcS.d/S01boot insserv -f -d $(grep -l "### BEGIN INIT INFO" $ETCDIR/etc/init.d/*) It's already checked in. cya Heiko |

I just finished uploading a new (and hopefully working) release in the testing directory. It should have most (all?) known bugs fixed, including the bugs in the adsl-* scripts. Please test and report back! - BS |

I uploaded a new testing release this morning, but deleted it from FTP server a couple hours later after finding a major bug. If anyone happened to download it, don't use it. Sorry! Hopefully we can get this fixed soon, and upload a good release ... - BS |

(Looks better) Thanks! Here's a quick "style guide" to keep it looking good and running efficiently: Do NOT mix menus and selections items on the same menu. It makes it look like crap IMO. (think of the old "network" submenu - yuck!) Do NOT nest menus more than two deep. (no deeper than they are now) This makes it easy to navigate through everything easily. Especially nice for us developers who like to turn on all options for releases to be uploaded to the FTP server. Try to group items in categories so that lists of items are not too long, nor or are they too short. Again, easier for us developers to hop through all the items before compiling a release to be uploaded. - BS |
