I fixed it and started my compile over from scratch. I'll know if it's fixed in an hour or two ... - BS |

i've found several problems when using the install-on-usb script.
installing lilo as a bootloader is commented. Therefore, i suppose that its deprecated.
If not, there is an error:

Ok, I've merged your suggestions to mention in the form of a press release. For the moment I'm hosting it on my LUG's web server. I believe this should be finalized and moved to the devil-linux.org site before the release date. Please review and comment: http://www.kalamazoolinux.org/devil-linux-1.0-press-release.php - BS |

I was recently ask a question privately about firewall scripts on DL. There are the scripts we provide in /etc/init.d, PLUS a couple more firewall scripts in /etc/ppp. I've never used PPP on DL, so the /etc/ppp/ firewall scripts were news to me. From the comments in those scripts, they appear to be part of the Roaring Penguin package. They also use ipchains, so I'm not sure they will even work on DL. Should we remove those scripts from /etc/ppp? Or what should I tell people asking about which scripts to use? - BS |

Doing tests to make an usb bootable device, i've just discovered one bad thing: a plain .config (empty, with only the cpu type specified) generates an iso of 88mb... this looks like something is broken on the new build system. previous isos (of dl0.6) were 50-60mb, and had a lot of software installed. is this because all the libraries got copied, no matter if they are selected or belong to a software not slected? -- -- gnupg keyfingerprint -- 48AF 5BF9 8F54 2966 64CC 2327 7CD0 DD91 B09D 5799 -- Use of a keyboard or mouse may be linked to serious injuries or disorders. If the user doesn't select an option, it isn't written to the .config file. The other option is to force the value on every script, but thats not easy because of the order of execution. I'll checkin the option i liked most, and then anybody will be free to improve it :) -- -- gnupg keyfingerprint -- 48AF 5BF9 8F54 2966 64CC 2327 7CD0 DD91 B09D 5799 -- Use of a keyboard or mouse may be linked to serious injuries or disorders.
