The script checks the root directories of all "harddisks" and cdroms for etc.tar.bz2. save-config is not yet modified to use the devfs, so the search doesn't include IDE "harddisks" yet. "harddisks" means any devices which are or emulate harddisks (usb sticks, cf cards) Heiko |

I just downloaded devil-linux-1.1.1-2003-12-21-i586-SMP.tar.bz2 (since I didn't have a recent compile of my own at work), and installed it on a new box. It booted up, ask me to copy a blank config to media (I said "y"), it booted, I setup the box, ran save-config, and rebooted. It came back up, and I noticed that I didn't have a root password, which was set. I also noticed my network wasn't setup, and NONE of my changes were there. After repeating the process a couple times, I finally figured out that the boot process was creating and reading my config on a local hard drive (ext3 /dev/hda2), and save-config was saving to my USB stick on /dev/sda1. - BS |

In particular it has been designed to backup Mail, Web and Proxy servers during periods of both unscheduled and scheduled down time. Fake allows you to take over the IP address of another machine in the LAN by bringing up an additional interface and making use of ARP spoofing. The additional interface can be either a physical interface or an IP alias. Fake is easily configurable and is designed to enable automated invocation via systems such as Mon that monitor the availability of servers. Fake can also be used in conjuction with load balancing mecahnisms such as The Linux Virtual Server. Fake can also be used as a resource for superseeded by Heartbeat. It has been developed at CMU since 1987 by the systems group of M. Satyanarayanan. in the SCS department. Coda is a distributed filesystem with its origin in AFS2. It has many features that are very desirable for network filesystems. Currently, Coda has several features not found elsewhere. 1. disconnected operation for mobile computing 2. is freely available under a liberal license 3. high performance through client side persistent caching 4. server replication 5. security model for authentication, encryption and access control 6. continued operation during partial network failures in server network 7. network bandwith adaptation 8. good scalability 9. well defined semantics of sharing, even in the presence of network failures ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=864429&group_id=34096 |

The decision to invoke an alert is governed by logic which offers various "squelch" features and dependencies, all of which are configurable by the user. Monitors and alerts are not a part of the core mon server, even though the distribution comes with a handful of them to get you started. This means that if a new service needs monitoring, or if a new alert is necessary, the mon server does not need to be changed. This makes mon easily extensible. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410646&aid=864427&group_id=34096 |

This email is to inform you about the release of version '1.1.8' of 'Linux Virtual Server' through freshmeat.net. All URLs and other useful information can be found at http://freshmeat.net/projects/linuxvirtualserver/ The changes in this release are as follows: This release is included in the official 2.6.0 kernel. It has many important changes such as handling nonlinear packets correctly, fixing timers, avoiding race conditions, and other bugfixes. Project description: The Linux Virtual Server Project is an Open Source project to cluster many real servers together into a highly available, high-performance virtual server. The LVS handles connections from clients and passes them on the the real servers (so-called Layer 4 switching) and can virtualize almost any TCP or UDP service, like HTTP, HTTPS, NNTP, FTP, DNS, ssh, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, etc. It is fully transparent to the client accessing the virtual service. Bugs item #864025, was opened at 2003-12-21 12:26 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410643&aid=864025&group_id=34096 Category: Configuration / Scripts Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Heiko Zuerker (smiley73) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: snort init interface support Initial Comment: currently the snort init script doesn't specify on which interface it should run. add functionality to specify multiple interfaces. only one interface per snort daemon can be specified, so i.e. /etc/snort/snort-<interface>.conf as config file would be a good default. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=410643&aid=864025&group_id=34096 |
