I imported a .sav file gotten from the emulator itself, and when I click on the button to launch the save, the screen turns black. No music or sound, the Emulator doesn't crash, just the save file doesnt load.

Then you imported the .sav wrong. Oftentimes a .sav file is garbage of use only to the program that created it. Find a specific guide or converter online.

i fixed this a while ago. turned out the version of desmume i downloaded was weird or something. i downgraded to 9.11 and it worked fine.

Did you keep the one you downloaded? If recent build are broken, that would be nice to know

i deleted the version that was weird if that's what you mean. it was 9.12 or something. it didn't work with .savs.

Hey sorry but I just had the same issue with Soul Silver, AND with the 9.11 version. Top screen is black but bottom still works. And game music can still be heard. Even if I try shutting down Desmume and shutting it on again, there's still this bug. Any advice ?

I don't think he is loading save states.

Honestly, I think there is a bug in desmume. Desmume currently does not support soul silver or heart gold due to the bug innately, but if you look online for help, you can find the bug in question and how to fix it. Hope this helps.

save your game on the pokemon and close desmume and load it up on game.

Well actually I just saw that the last update on the rom I'm playing with is from 2010, so that could explain a lot of things ? Anyway I'll try to find another rom haha

most NDS roms arent updated. it's typical for them to be from 2010 or even earlier.

Worst of this is that I just can't find any rom from 2011-2019... I also tried with another version of desmume but it was going the same way :/ if you have any advice to give that would really be awesome.

If you think roms get updated, then my advice is to find a friend who understands emulation and learn some things.

I got the same problem that the OP had.
Playing Soul Silver, using version 0.9.12.
No save states nor cheats. Everytime I try to load my save file it just goes black and nothing happens.
The save files are .DSV so I don't know what to do.

Are you sure you know the difference between save states and save files / in-game-saves / dsv?

  • Brandon Thomason

@Anonymous: You're right, a dsv file is a TYPE of save file. There are actually 2. duc and dsv.

Duc is an action replay save file. You get those from gamefacts,

Dsv is a battery file, a desmume in game save.

    dct is a save state.

In a sense, you tried to load a dsv/in game save. And it went black? Could it be that your save file is corrupted?

@zeromus: I think he does, honestly.

.dct is a cheat file, not a save state.

I opened the file and the top screen flashed for a second before going black. Music's still there, I can still move because it shows the city/route's name when I go through it and the music changes. I'm in the Pokemon Center. I'm doing a Soul Silver Randomizer. I've tried everything, and I just don't know what to do.
