#1311 Game save loads a black top screen, but still plays?
new user to desmume. But im experiancing a loading problem with my pokemon heartgold game. It loads my save with a black top screen. Music still plays, and I can still play the game: pokemon appear and the top screen shows again, aswell as i can use the top screen for the strt menu options. i have tried different 3D settings but no difference :/ ??

dont upgrade desmumes and use savestates from old desmumes. dont use savestates at all; use in-game saves and you wont have this problem

Making savestates literally sets off this bug. The bug is avoided by not making savestates. There's nothing douchey about telling someone how to avoid a bug.
Bro, he legit said not to use savestates because it prevents the bug, and to use the in game save system to keep your progress. Were you dropped on your head as a child, or did you just find it to be your calling to be an angry idiot on the internet?

We have in-game battery saves and savestates, so I dont know what "save thingy" you mean.
I dont have a toolbar i use a nintendo DS lite but no computer

Just a question, how do you use in game saves? Every time I save in game using the actual option in the bottom screen it just starts a new game when I load it up again. If you could just give a few simple steps that would be great thanks!
Dearchive desmume and all related files to a folder on your desktop instead of putting it in program files for some reason or running it directly out of the archive.

Yeah i have heart gold and have the same problem im not using old desmume files or saves. They are brand new
Ok, I think I've figured it out. I've got soul silver/Storm silver and every time I open a menu page whilst standing in the middle of a Pokémon centre (2 steps in front of Nurse. Joy) the character and the other NPC's glitch and loose their texture, then when I leave the room the top screen goes black and if I re-enter any other room it stays black, now like the 1st guy said if I open any menu screens the top screen works again and the same with battles so try and avoid doing that ( I have experienced this problem in many save profiles and Pokémon centres.)
Now further experiments will be taken and I know that it's a bit long but anyone still having this problem (like me) should hopefully find this helpful. ;)
I had this problem too, what I did was just saved it in game on the Desmume not the load state but the actual game and just reloaded it. Black screen gone! hope this helps!
