#1302 control config error

I recently came across the minor issue of needing to remap my keyboard keys so that I could play certain games easier. Castlevania, for instance, required me to hold down L, use B and one of the keypad directions all at once to get to a higher area. It wasn't much of an issue at the time.

But when I went to remap the keys in the Control Config area on the desmume, it automatically remapped them all to #255 and wouldn't let me change it. I checked the hotkeys section and it's doing the same thing. I've tried getting rid of the emulator and redownloading it and even going up to v0.9.9 and it still doesn't work. Both versions are doing this now and I haven't been able to find anyone else having this issue or how to solve it.

weve never been able to figure out whats causing this for some people. are you using a laptop? try detaching other input devices from your system. does it look like #255 is getting spammed constantly somehow? for example, if you click on any of the bindings (the binding should turn green), will it immediately get set to #255 (and return to blue)? If you were to edit bindings in the desmume.ini file, would they show up as #255 still?

Yes. Toshiba laptop. I've tried unplugging my headphones, usb keyboard and usb mouse and it still does the same thing without them plugged in.
When I click on control config, it doesn't give me even a split second to change anything, it autofills all of it immediately and I'm unable to do more than click out of it. It stays blue and clicking on any of them refills each one with #255 in blue all over again.
Also, I've tried editing the file and adding in A=A and so on, but to no avail. It doesn't change the keys at all, nor will it let me use them afterwards.

use that [Controls] section (make sure youve erased any other [Controls] section in your ini file) which uses the zxasqwer keys and arrow keys.

if you use those settings, and dont open the controls config dialog, it should work.

in that file, but it's working fine now. No idea what the issue was.

Toshiba notebooks use a custom version of the synaptics driver which enables additional functional keys and things like touch slide.

This sometimes causes issues in games and applications that don't ignore constant input

Do you know of any open source software which has had this problem, and then solved it?

VBA-M iirc had a similar issue fixed a long time back, though i can't remember by who, and if it was before the move to Sourceforge (from bountysource)

The one person i know who could answer a question of how to fix this has not been available on irc for more than half a year now.

I have a HP laptop, and whilst i can control the enter button once i get to create a file it stops working, i've remapped the key and still no luck

So then press a different button, not every game uses the start button

Who told you to press the enter button? It's extremely unusual for none of the buttons to work. Maybe you should check your key bindings

I get this issue if using Save States. I played through a bit of Castlevania DoS. Keys worked. Saved State, loaded later, Keys worked. Now, loaded save state, keys do NOT work (except for Arrow Keys) I try to reassign them but it auto goes to #231
