I don't understand why denyhosts seems to properly see a mask, but still adds additional sites that are masked? For example,im my /etc/hosts.deny file I see, or a given XXX IP field:
...

Denyhosts: Sun Aug 10 12:18:00 2014 | ALL: 144.0.0.0/24

ALL: XXX.0.0.0/24
...

DenyHosts: Thu Aug 14 14:17:58 2014 | ALL: 144.0.0.49

ALL: XXX.0.0.49
