Using DejaVu Sans version 2.25 under GTK 2.10.2 with fontconfig and MontaVista Linux, the word "Type" appears to have a kerning issue at some sizes, with too much space between "y" and "p". I have the recommended fontconfig files installed (excluding the "experimental" ones). See the attached screen capture TypeTestDejaVu.png. The same screen using Nimbus Sans L (TypeTestNimbus.png) does not exhibit the problem. The names such as "A_20" correspond to the point size passed in a Pango font description, while the PIX: field gives the vertical height in pixels resulting, not that the latter is of any interest here. |
