I'm sorry to tell you so but it is a configuration issue.  Please post
the configuration you think ddclient uses on http://ddclient.pastebin.ca/ or
another pastebin and put a link here.

Since you told me you had a use=if, if=eth0 and since there's nothing about
it in your logging, I really think ddclient isn't using the configuration file
you think he uses.
