By default ddclient uses /etc/ddclient/ddclient.conf as configuration and
/var/cache/ddclient/ddclient.cache as cache file.  some distributions changes
this location to the old one (as far as I know, ubuntu does, I don't know if
fedora does)

Since your ddclient doesn't work like it should, I would suggest to specify
the configuration file by using the --file option.
