With "configure a second ddclient configuration which you run as a postscript." I meant almost what you were doing. Run your ddclient with "ddclient-mydomain1.conf" as configuration in deamon mode with automatic startup. In ddclient-mydomain1.conf you add a line "postscript=ddclient -file ddclient-mydomain2.conf -ip". When the first domain gets updated, postscript is run which should update your second domain.
