Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4140202 By: wimpunk hm, sorry, I've been to fast sending my message. Ddclient forces an update every 15days by default, depending on the maxinterval setting. One of my connections is pretty stable to, and the maxinterval works pretty fine for me. I check my router every 5 minutes for a changed WAN IP and if it's changed or the max interval is passed, ddclient tries to update. Dyndns reponds by a "nochg" answer if you tried to update with the same IP but the last changed date is updated in the dyndns database. Your success aswer is pretty correct. Dyndns mentions that you didn't change your IP but that doesn't matter. Just to be complete: next release of ddclient will have a more correct interval of 30days which is between the recommendations of ddclient (between 25 and 35 days). Greetings, wimpunk. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4140165 By: wimpunk If you didn't change anything, ddclient does make an update before 35 days. The interval is defined by the max-interval setting which defaults on 15 days. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4140143 By: evinzor I'm using ddclient to automatically update my DynDNS account dynamic ip. I have found that ddclient does not take into account the 35 day idle time limit DynDNS has on its dynamic ips. I came back from holiday yesterday only to discover that my dyndns account had been closed 4 days earlier. I guess that's the downside of having a really stable connection... Is there a way to force ddclient to update the IP, even if no change is necessary? I tried making a monthly cron job that calls ddclient with -force but apparently that doesn't force the update either since the web service itself reports the same ip as ddclient is trying to set and ddclient just goes all: SUCCESS: updating evinyatar.ath.cx: nochg: No update required; unnecessary attempts to change to the current address are considered abusive Any ideas? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. You make your life to hard. When updating, ddclient sets that host_name=robdartnell.com. So you don't have to worry about the faq on namecheap. kind regards, wimpunk. |

Hi, I wish to send the following email to ddclient-support: === I am using dynamic dns provided by namecheap. >From their faq, i notice from the relevant url: http://dynamicdns.park-your-domain.com/update?host=host_name&domain=domain.com&password=domain_password[&ip=your_ip] that the unique information is: - host_name - domain.com - domain_password - (and optional ip address) i am using ddclient which suggests the following setup for its configuration file: ## NameCheap (namecheap.com) ## # protocol=namecheap, \ # server=dynamicdns.park-your-domain.com, \ # login=my-namecheap.com-login, \ # password=my-namecheap.com-password \ # myhost.namecheap.com my questions are: - do you require the namecheap login to be posted in the ddclient request? - what is host_name, and how is it relevant to the dynamic DNS? my current config is as below: daemon=300 protocol=namecheap server=dynamicdns.park-your-domain.com login=**my_login** password=**my_password** robdartnell.com as you can see, i simply specified the domain and left out the host_name. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers - Rob Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger.yahoo.com |

Hi! I encountered the following bug: When ddclient isn't running in daemon mode, it always sends mail to the mail-failure address, even when the dns got updated successfully. When ddclient isn't running in daemon mode, it modifies the variable $result like this before calling sendmail(): $result = $result eq 'OK' ? 0 : 1; Sendmail() then checks whether $result is equal to 'OK', and if it isn't, mail gets sent to the failure address... I've attached a patch, hope you like it :) -- Daniel Thaler |

Hi, I am unable to identify problem with ddclient.conf configuration. The problem is that changes in my dynamic ip is not updating in the dyndns.org. Attached is a patch to r27 of ddclient. The patch changes --daemon values to be intervals all of the time, instead of intervals some of the time and number of seconds the rest of the time. This fixes a fairly nasty bug, where values such as '5h' were treated as zero by the 'sleep' function. - James |

Halleluja! It's out there! Ddclient 3.7.0 is finally released. It's been taking a while but it has a pretty nice improvement. With the help of perlhaq ddclient can update your favorit dynamic dns provider using https. Checkout README.ssl for more information on how to use it. There's more. Check the changelog for more details. This release wasn't possible without the help of perlhaq and ddfisher. |

Hi, I'm trying to update zoneedit.com. I'd like to obtain my IP address from a webpage like checkip.dyndns.org:8245 (I can't tell if zoneedit provides the same type of webpage). I keep getting a login error (below), even though I'm providing the correct userid and password (changed below for posting). I have rtfm, looked at the examples. I'm sure I'm missing something easy but I don't see it Thanks for the help Jay root@ubuntu:/etc/init.d # ddclient -use=web -login=jaystrauss -password=jaystrauss -host=jay.mydomain.com.com -protocol=zoneedit1 FAILED: updating jay.tradestudy.com: authorization failed (HTTP/1.1 401 Authorization Required FAILED: Date: Tue, 30 Aug 2005 02:47:10 GMT FAILED: Server: Apache FAILED: WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="ZoneEdit Access" FAILED: Connection: close FAILED: Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: FAILED: <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> FAILED: <html lang="en-US"> FAILED: <head> FAILED: <title>Authentication Failed (ZoneEdit.com)</title> FAILED: FAILED: <BODY MARGINHEIGHT=0 MARGINWIDTH=0 MARGINTOP=0 MARGINLEFT=0 MARGINRIGHT=0 MARGINBOTTOM=0 LINK=#000000 VLINK=#770077> FAILED: <center><div align=center> FAILED: FAILED: <br> FAILED: FAILED: <table width=50% bgcolor=black><tr><td> FAILED: <table width=100% bgcolor=white><tr><td align=center> FAILED: <font face="arial, helvetica" size="-1"><b> </b></font> FAILED: <a href="http://www.zoneedit.com/"> FAILED: <br> FAILED: FAILED: <img src="http://www.zoneedit.com/img/logo-idea1.jpg" border="0"></a> FAILED: <br> FAILED: <font face="arial, helvetica" size="-1"><b>... the newest way to control the internet</b></font> FAILED: FAILED: <p> FAILED: <font face="arial, helvetica" size="-1"> FAILED: FAILED: <table width=90%><tr><td bgcolor="#eeeeee"> FAILED: To subscribe to ZoneEdit.com, or to license the ZoneEdit.com technology, including web based real-time dns editing, FAILED: WebForward, and Starter Web Page, please contact sa...@zo... / +1-847-461-1893 FAILED: </td></tr></table> FAILED: FAILED: <p> FAILED: FAILED: <table width=90%><tr><td bgcolor="#eeeeee"> FAILED: <script src="http://www.textads.biz/getNextAd.jsp?siteref=50059a96446502dbe075c43567a0cef4&adNum=1"></script> FAILED: </td></tr></table> FAILED: FAILED: </font> FAILED: FAILED: <br> FAILED: FAILED: </td></tr></table> FAILED: </td></tr></table> FAILED: FAILED: </div></center> FAILED: FAILED: </body> FAILED: FAILED: </html>) |
