Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6289187 By: thericker I would like to use ddclient with eNom. They are the second largest domain registrar and I did not see them listed in the help file. Enom already has the service and an API to interface into it. I did the homework and here are the details needed to interface with their system. Their API Command Catalog: http://www.enom.com/resellers/APICommandCatalogEnom41.pdf I think GetHosts and SetHost commands are the two API commands needed. Both commands work when you set up a domain password, so no reseller account is needed. Their Dynamic DNS FAQ: http://www.enom.com/help/faq_dynamicdns.asp Server: dynamic.name-services.com Is there any chance eNom could be added in the next release? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6285696 By: xeke I've got a Zoom ADSL Modem/Router that connects me to the Internet. I used to use ddclient with a Netsys router with great success. I don't find my Zoom listed as a supported router, and several searches on Google have turned up nothing. I'm hoping that someone around here will have, at least, a suggestion how to move forward. Thanks, Dave ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6267219 By: wimpunk If you are using the normal debian configuration, you'll have to add a -daemon parameter, I think. Otherwise the process won't start in the background. Be sure to use different cache and pid files in both configurations otherwise you will get trouble. Since it looks like I'm the only active developer, the new release got another delay but it will be there soon, I promise. You could try the current svn version. Feedback on that version makes a faster release. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6234077 By: swnorton I am trying to update my DNS with the internal IP of an interface, and the public IP of another interface. I know that I must run multiple instances of ddclient, as a daemon, to keep both IP's updated. How can I tell my Debian installation to start both of these process daemons: ddclient -f /etc/ddclient.eth0.conf ddclient -f /etc/ddclient.eth1.conf ??? Also, any word on version 3.8? ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6025653 By: lnxgnome I'm using SNMP to get the external IP address directly from my Billion router, which is then used by ddclient. I'm one of those unfortunate enough to live in a country where internet censorship is already an art form, so I can't use a web based service like checkip.org (because they're all blocked). Even access to the regular ports used by my dynamic dns service provided are blocked. Makes using ddclient very interesting. Using use=web directly to this router doesn't seem to work well, because "IP Address" appears more than one time on the page containing the IP needed, and ddclient grabs the wrong address (an internal one), or can't find it at all. IF ddclient could handle multiple web-skip entries on the same line, then it might work. (use=web, web=router/welcome.html, web-skip='wan', web-skip='IP Address') so... fall back to SNMP, which works. Some of the bashier modification suggested don't work.... CM="${2:=public}" Fails because "2" is a bash position parameter, and cannot be redefined. You could use: TWO=$2 CM="${TWO:=public}" The next line has a typo, and is missing the right ")", but is otherwise ok. The 'set --' fails to do what we want, because snmpwalk returns multiple records (one per interface, which in this case are 5 different addresses). You need to reiterate(loop) over each IP to see if it belongs to the correct interface (which is identified by $EXTIF). note: $2 in awk is a awk variable, not a bash positional parameter. --LnxGnome ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=6016706 By: lnxgnome 1) Enable SNMP read on the router in Configuration / Advanced / Device Management. The "read community" is your password. Optionally, set the IP to that of the machine running ddclient. 2) The machine running ddclient needs to have `snmpwalk` and `awk`. snmpwalk can be found as part of the net-snmp package. 3) Add this to your ddclient.conf: use=cmd, cmd="/usr/local/bin/get_external_ip_from_router internal_hostname_or_IP_of_router" 4) Create the script file /usr/local/bin/get_external_ip_from_router and make it executable. It should look like this: #!/bin/bash if [ "$1" == "" ]; then exit 99 else GW=$1 EXTIF=`snmpwalk -Ov -Oq -c public -v 1 $GW ipRouteIfIndex.0.0.0.0` ENTRY=`snmpwalk -Os -Oq -c public -v 1 $GW ipAdEntIfIndex | awk '$2=='$EXTIF' { print $1 }'` IP=${ENTRY/ipAdEntIfIndex./} echo $IP fi 5) test the script by running it from the commandline: /usr/local/bin/get_external_ip_from_router internal_hostname_or_IP_of_router example: # /usr/local/bin/get_external_ip_from_router 192.168.1.1 221.221.123.101 If the script does not work, do you have a default/0.0.0.0 route to ipwan? (it keys off of that) 6) stop/start ddclient --LnxGnome ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Note that it should also be documented on the --help command line option : presently this option help is missing. As a helper it should appear as a comment in the sample conf files. Maybe a recommendation about possible conflict between current shell quoting rules and command line interpretation by the script should be useful to users. As far as I can tell the code submitted by ragnar42 is correct. Tip: the option works as a global option in the ddclient.conf file. It is typically very useful to update some firewall rules. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=676128&aid=1602440&group_id=116817 |

Thanks for doing it. There is just one problem I need to report: You need to update the README file to instruct people to create /var/cache/ddclient if it doesn't exist. Or better yet, have the ddclient to create one itself. I am running it under Ubuntu 7.10, with ddclient-3.7.3 See below for the debug output (through which I discovered the problem): ///////////////////// WARNING: updating xxxxx.dyndns.org: nochg: No update required; unnecessary attempts to change to the current address are considered abusive FATAL: Cannot create file '/var/cache/ddclient/ddclient.cache'. Totally agree that, at least, the README must be updated. Another way to see the problem is by doing /etc/rc.d/init.d/ddclient status after a start. The status says "ddclient dead but pid file exists". Some too confident people may miss that their ddclient daemon is in fact NOT running. Just in case this may help. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=676128&aid=1860800&group_id=116817 |

Category: Access to other routers Group: None Status: Open Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Pierre DELAAGE (pdelaage) Assigned to: wimpunk (wimpunk) Summary: belkin "ADSL modem with wireless G router" support Initial Comment: In ddclient.conf, just put : use=fw, fw=<IP ADDRESS of the router on the LAN>/login.stm, fw-skip='var wan_ip="' # found after IP Address Although one normally needs a password to log in the config pages of the router, this password IS NOT required to gain access to the wan address, just because this ip addresse appears in the code of the login page itself.:-) Applies to belkin "ADSL Modem with Wireless G router", Model F5D7632-4, firmware 4.01.09. note : I recently had problems with the embedded dyndns client of the router : it just missed to perform some updates, after some wan ip changes enforced by our ISP "orange" (which is forcing a deconnexion every 24h). That is why I use ddclient now. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=676131&aid=2477682&group_id=116817 |

Bugs item #1860800, was opened at 2007-12-30 08:59 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by pdelaage You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=676128&aid=1860800&group_id=116817 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: service configuration Group: current version Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Feng (fhu02) Assigned to: wimpunk (wimpunk) Summary: need /var/cache/ddclient for daemon mode Initial Comment: Your program is very easy to use and setup. (No such file or directory) Can't exec "sendmail": No such file or directory at /usr/sbin/ddclient line 1346. ddclient: cannot execute command | sendmail -oi root. ///////////////// ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Pierre DELAAGE (pdelaage) Date: 2008-12-30 21:02 Message: Same problem under Mandriva 2008, running ddclient 3.7.3 in daemon mode, and using a customized version of the sample-etc_rc.d_init.d_ddclient.redhat init script (replaced sh by bash at the beginning and put "LSB" style BEGIN/END INIT INFO block).

Patches item #2471040, was opened at 2008-12-27 05:47 Message generated for change (Comment added) made by karmannjro You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=676130&aid=2471040&group_id=116817 Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: new services Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: J. Randall Owens (karmannjro) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: add HE IPv6 tunnel broker service Initial Comment: This one's a slight change of pace, since it's not actually a dynamic DNS being updated, but rather an IPv6 tunnel broker, Hurricane Electric. I was thinking what might be the best way to cover for it if/when my IP(v4) finally changes, since you have to have your IPv4 address registered with them, so they allow your encapsulated IPv6 traffic through. Then I remembered the time I've spent poking at ddclient's innards, and figured it could almost certainly be modified to suit the need. Here's the output. There was one complication, in that it needs the Digest::MD5 perl module, because they want a hash of the password, but that seems to be a pretty standard module. Seems like the alternative would be to make users find the MD5 of their own passwords, and enter that as their password parameter. The format information, as much as I can get, is at http://ipv4.tunnelbroker.net/ipv4_end.php . I don't yet know whether the SSL is mandatory, as seems to be implied there. Can the ssl option be set per server, or only globally? I wasn't clear on that yet; for now, I have my addition set up as though it can be per server. (Completely untested yet, BTW, so look it over.) The rest of it should be pretty self-documenting, if you look at nic_he_ipv6_tunnel_examples output. The biggest departure is that it uses a tunnel ID number (up to 5 digits, to date) where you would normally put a domain name. Almost like Sitelutions in that way, though. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: J. Randall Owens (karmannjro) Date: 2008-12-29 05:37 Message: One correction to make, I guess the login they expect in the GET URL arguments isn't what an HE user might normally think of as their login, but a long random-looking string of what looks like 32 hex characters (512 bits if so). Just change nic_he_ipv6_tunnel_examples' login text to my_he_ipv6_ID, or something like that. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: J. Randall Owens (karmannjro) Date: 2008-12-27 13:37 Message: Oh, to be complete, I'm not sure if it would need a postscript to run to rebuild the tunnel interface. If so, it would be very much OS dependent, and in Linux, even dependent on whether you prefer `ifconfig` or `ip`. So, that might be something to add in the /usr/share/doc/ddclient-*/ examples, but certainly not in the live program. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=676130&aid=2471040&group_id=116817 |
