The dban-2.0.0_powerpc shows ATAPI drives in the slection list as "unknown device" or "unrecognized device".

These drives should not appear in the device selection list.

The reason for this is "memory card readers" They assign a drive letter to an empty drive and cause this error.
Make sure and disconnect any unnecessary usb, usb hub, usb card reader, or multi-function printers (which usually have card readers or usb slots).
You even need to disconnect any internal memory card readers from the motherboard.
I guarantee this will fix that issue

Thanks for the fix. I can also confirm that it's happening in v2.2.6 beta. Is this anything that can be fixed in a future release of DBAN, or will it always exist ???

Also, would this happen if there are cards in all the reader slots ???

I was able to work around this although I did have to sacrifice an old 64 MB SD card. Even with it in the internal slot, if I didn't select it for wipe along with the HDD, DBAN would crash after a few seconds.
