Using "client-side email scheduling" means that Thunderbird will send email meeting invites (aka ics files) to the other attendees of the meeting. They then reply via email, and Thunderbird processes them and updates the event in your calendar. No tweaks server side are required. This is how I've always handled meeting invites. > Question 2) would this then also allow for users who is not on the same > Davical server including not using Davical server but other calendar > functions such as Microsoft, Google, Apples, etc. to receive meetings > invites? Correct, it will allow you to send invites to people using other calendar servers. It will also work with people on the same calendar server. DAViCal does have some support for sending meeting invites to other calendar servers and receiving the responses, but it sadly isn't complete.
