Thanks for your response. I tried entering the data as follows:

 

org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver

 

jdbc:mysql://localhost//HOA_Data

 

HOA_Data

 

root

 

password

 

Still got the error. ("Java exception communication failure during
handshake. Is there a server running on port 3306").

 

Running Java version 1.6.027, Open JDK Runtime Environment IcedTea 6 1.12.5
and Open JDC Server VM Build 20.0-b12, Mixed Mode.
