It has been a while since the last blog, or since any update really. If anyone is following the source updates then they would know we are still diligently working although there are still too many distractions like work and other classes. Last week right before the session ended we got ray tracing in with a helicopter looking model that shoots out block. Next think to do is to integrate the leap to work with the helicopter specifically and to make sure that our method of shooting will be intuitive.

Counting Down The Days

Blog 1: Day 13

This is the first official blog post for The Darkest Nights formally known as The Darkest of Nights. In the last week we have been testing out some new ideas and we decided to switch from just a third-person shooter to a helicopter first person shooter using the Leap Motion as the controller. We still plan on being able to get out of the helicopter and run around killing zombies. We are still fiddling around with ideas but we already have the Leap integrated with the project and it looks promising. For those that don't have a Leap Motion, don't worry, we are still supporting standard keyboard/mouse controls with a maybe on adding in other controller support. We will try to keep update up on here and we are releasing weekly builds on Sunday which should work on both windows 7 and 8. Note, this project is DirectX 11 only.
