It seems that dar_static is only available if built from sources.
From the documentation it seems that dar_manager is invaluable - a dar_manager_static version would probably be helpful?
My request is to produce an archive with these static builds for each release.

since release 2.8.0 dar is able to read dar_manager database to restore some or all files from a set of full/differential/incremental backups (see -aefd option) It even becomes the recommended way to restore from a dar_manager database). dar_static is thus only needed when restoring in the context of minimal environment. Dar_manager stays useful to manage (add, reorder, and so forth) an existing database in the context normal operation (backing up an existing/live system) where non static software is not a problem. Doesn't this already address your need?

You're right about dar_manager, and I see that it's not possible to build a self-contained dar_static.exe for Windows.
For Windows users: In an emergency restore situation I guess we need more or less the whole dar/bin, dar/etc and maybe dar/home?
    You may close this.
