So, I like snow. That's why I go skiing every year - but for the sake of the project, I now have one more reason.
This weekend should have been spend with my family in the country, but unfortunately a snowstorm hit Denmark so we cancelled the trip. This led to a very quiet day instaed giving me the opportunity to finish up the XMLDataProvider.
So that task is done before I had thought I could even begin on it! Great. I will see if I can find some time tomorrow to start on the DataEditor.Controller class.
It is quite dangerous for your health to go skiing you know! No broken bones or such, but I brought a manster cold with me that has had me out cold. :)
Anyways, I am back in business. The R&D doc for 1.0 Beta is as ready as it will be, and the code is on the way. The d20Sharp.DataManager and related test module has been finished and upped. I will now start work on the d20Sharp.XMLDataProvider module, the d20Sharp.DataEditor.Controller module and the d20Sharp.DataEditor - in that order.... read more
I moved the R&D document from the Docs manager to the "web site". So you can now find it here : http://d20Sharp.sourceforge.net
I am going away on a skiing vacation i Italy. So I will not be doing any work on the project until I get back, February 7th 2005. Have fun with the Alpha code while I have fun in the snow. :)
Following up on my plans to do more design before coding, I have begun a Requirements & Design document for v. 1.0. You can find it here : https://sourceforge.net/docman/display_doc.php?docid=26609&group_id=127403
I finally managed to put the last classes together to form the alpha release. I reckon I did many more classes than I had planned from the get go. This surprised me, and made it difficult to monitor my progress. I will be doing more planning for the upcoming stages of the project in order to prvent the same chaos.
That said, I am actually quite pleased with the alpha release. There are still things that are missing, but these are mostly things for making stuff easier and doing checks in the character creation process.... read more
I am still completing classes for the Alpha release. I need some of the Equipment classes and to flesh out the spell class. Then it seems like I have all the data classes ready, and that's what the Aplha is about.
I know there are virtually thousands of user out there waiting just for this release (or maybe not a single soul yet??) - and I said it would be finished this week. I shall do my best, but my evenings are rapidly fililng up. I still hope it is possible!
The Version 1.0 Alpha code is nearing completion. I basically have all classes but now only need to flesh them out a bit - and then complete the testing - then Alpha will be released.
Look forward to it sometime during next week if all goes well.
The release plan has been updated with what will constitute the different phases of release for version 1.0.
I decided that since I needed to begin getting acquainted with Whidbey and VS.NET 2005, this project is as good as any. So I have begun changing the code to utilizing Whidbey instead. The project realisticly won't be finished before Whidbey is released anyways - so I might as well have some fun!
Getting rid of the code for implementing lists is my first step - and that is one part that I am so excited about. Generics are really cool... My next refactor will be to replace some of my dumb test methods for Dice with anonymous methods.
The release plan and first OGF documentation for release 1.0 have been submitted. More OGF documentation will follow later.
