CVSGrab is a simple CVS client that bypass any firewall blocking port 2401 used by cvs.
It relies on the ViewCVS web interface to the repository to work, and supports other types of web interfaces (CvsWeb, SourceCast...)
Use this tool when all other solutions (SSH...) fail. Only read-only access to the CVS repository is possible with this tool.
2.3 release includes the following changes and improvements:
o Added the long awaited support for ViewVC and in particular sourceforge.net
o Some of bugfixes
o A new developer (Shinobu Kawai) has joined the project, and the main developer (Ludovic Claude) is back after a long year of hibernation ;-)

o Major new feature: creation of patches to report your local changes to the main project (-diff option)
o Remember the connection settings, so the second time you run CVSGrab on a project you can just type cvsgrab
o Lots of bugfixes, in particular to run CVSGrab with CVSWeb
o Added support for Chora web interfaces (cvs.php.net)... read more

Yeah, CVSGrab has passed the 10.000th download mark.
I hope that you've found this tool as useful as you hoped, and thanks for your bug reports, patches and suggestions that help me to make a better tool.

CVSGrab is a cvs client to use when you are behind a firewall that blocks standard cvs access. It uses the web interface of the CVS repository and downloads the files from the repository.
Now announcing the final release of cvsgrab 2.0.
Features in this release: better support for the different versions of viewcvs used on popular sites (Sourceforge, Apache and others), support for other web interfaces to cvs repository like SourceCast.
I've started to work on a new version of CVSGrab. I want to use xpath to extract information from the web pages, and use some kind of template system to be able to support different web interfaces for CVS, in particular add support for the new web interface provided by Sourceforge as with it cvsgrab 1.2 dosen't work, and so many projects become once again not available behind a firewall.
Ludovic Claude
This is a maintenance release, it is more robust and some bugs have been fixed.
Enjoy

CVSGrab is a cvs client that works even behind a firewall, by using the http protocol and the ViewCVS interface to the repository. This new release supports firewalls with proxies and password protection.
CVSGrab is a cvs client that works even behind a firewall. It uses the web interface of the CVS repository (currently only ViewCVS is supported) and dowload the files from the repository. Of course, you have only read-only access to the repository.
