If I understood well (what itself depends on the day and climate) you refer to making your own SQL queries, isn't it? the only way to modify an SQL query in table paged navigation mode (as of today) is acessing SQL mode (SQL button) and pressing Edit button to enable editable queries. This displays a longer form with common SQL operations and a SQL history navigation feature.
