Rathr than cut thickness, could it be stock thickness? Specify it in a mixed list of stock, and in a mixed list of 'Details' where thickness is also specified.
Then allow an optimized cut be done on a per thickness (only the same thickness of stock can be cut with the same thickness of 'detailed' piece.
If this thickness was a text field, something like "25mm Mahogony", or "12mm MDF", or "3/4 CDX Plywood" could be options for the thickness (allowing both thickness and material to be specified in a single field.
