I don't know about other freeware Windows model flight simulators, but I think CRRCsim has also other strong points, besides being opensource and available on Linux. > > the settings file myself. Yep, for Nvidia the closed drivers are pretty much the only option for OpenGL acceleration, at the moment. The situation for ATI seems to be changing quickly, AMD says they will be opening specs for their newer cards and their closed fglrx drivers are getting a performance boost soon. If I had to buy a graphics card right now, I'd go with ATI. > > The simulator still need some attention, though. This could help us fix the bug. Not much, but thanks to your instructions, I'll try to do that soon. > > There are some planes that don't fly well, if at all. The Freesound Project [ http://freesound.iua.upf.edu/index.php ] may have something suitable. I'll try to take a look there when I have time. > > The release tarball's build system > > isn't really flexible, though it gets the job done in many cases. > > Andreas already wrote about it on the crrcsim Yahoo group: We've started > to create an autoconf script, so hopefully we can provide the standard > "configure;make;make install" build system with the next release. This is great. I have been trying to learn to create one myself, but I still have much to learn about that. > > Is the simulator still being developed? This simulator wouldn't even exist without them, after all. I very much appreciate that you people have created CRRCsim on your free time and even giving it for everybody to use as free software. I do some programming myself, so I can at least admire all the hours you have put into it. I wish I could help with programming projects like this some day. |
