#403 Fixes for CoffeeGoose quest to fill in some clue gaps, give more NPC responses, give newbie better gaming experience during this really early quest
There were many gaps and some errors in this VERY convoluted quest that newbies will stumble on in their first couple of days. The goal of this "rework" is to give newbies a few more clues, and most importantly fix some holes, errors and omissions, that made this quest overly frustrating.
This IS a very long, back-and-forth quest on purpose ("Goose Chase", duh) but now should be much more playable. As I reworked this it was very difficult to follow what previous quest designers had in mind, so I am including a FULL storyline list of game events below for future reference (and future debugging / testing)

Take "inferior" coffee to Milton

Back to Eswald to investigate bad coffee

Eswald: "clue|how|lead (gives Oled)
Go to Oled's
Oled: "eswald|lost|goose|esmeralda (gives "sorry to hear", but lost lead)
Courier: "eswald|oled|coffee = "Coffee here is okay, but Eswald use to have the BEST coffee. Wish I knew what happened."
Courier: "esmeralda = "I don't know who that is."
Courier: "goose|bird = "Try Riverside."
Courier: "riverside|where = "I've said too much already."
Oled: "riverside = "I'm a little busy now."
Go to Eswald's
Eswald: "riverside = "Riverside Manor, just go south through the Guard House on the other wide of the Inn next door."
Go to Riverside Manor
Amy: "eswald|goose|bird = "I heard Eswald lost his goose, but... uh... I don't know anything about that." (a little suspicious)
Amy: "esmeralda|oled = "Want to rent Condo #2?" (evasive)
Amy: "rent|house|yes|key|condo = "Ya, Condo #2 is available. 100 gold a week. Three weeks advance. I ain't fixin' nuthin so take it or leave it. Key's on the table if you want to check it out first."
Get key ; Go to Condo#2 (big fight - no leads, but now know Amy)
Go to Eswald's
Eswald: "amy = "She's the caretaker down at Riverside Manor. Saw her at Oled's earlier."
Go to Oled's
Oled: "amy = "Hey, whatever she told you is a lie ok. That lady Mark was talking to was a sick friend of mine."
Oled: "mark = "Who? Never heard of him... Would you like a cup of coffee?"
Oled: "lady|friend|Fran = "Yeah, that's Fran. She's probably over at the 'Mule right now."
Oled: "mule = "I'm a little busy now."
Courier: "mule = "Yeah, The Barking Mule? Just a bit northwest up that road."
Go to Eswald's (just to cover bases)
Eswald: "mark = "What a bum. Gambles a lot. Always after the quick, easy coin. Chattin' it up with Fran last I saw."
Eswald: "fran = "Seen her working at the Mule. Just ask for service, she will always take your order!"
Eswald: "mule = "The Barking Mule! Head west on River Road. All the way to the end, then it's just north."
Go to Barking Mule
Fran: "service|order = "Hey buddy just take a seat, I work two jobs you know."
Fran: "job|jobs = "Ya I work part time at Oled's Cafe too."
Fran: "oled = "He's ok to work for, but he's a pincher if you know what I mean. He's usually pretty mellow, but lately he seems a bit tense."
Fran: "amy = "She broke up with Mark. Can't blame her one bit."
Fran: "mark = "That bum, all this time he had a girl on the side. Too bad he was coming into some coin too... Some deal with that bird of his."
[20>30]Fran: "goose|bird = "Ya I heard Mark and Swabbie stole a goose."
Fran: "swabbie = "That run down ole pirate has been hiding away at his place in Cornerbrook the last few days. Very odd."
Fran: "cornerbrook = "Just south of here."
Go to Cornerbrook Estates
Swabbie: "mark = "Yeah, I know him. He told me not to tell anyone he was at Goth.... Oh, you said 'Mark'... I never heard of him..."
Swabbie: "* = "Yo ho ho! A pirate's life for me!"
Go to Eswald's (just to cover bases)
Eswald: "goth|goths|tavern|card|games|cards = "Goth's Tavern? Best card games in all of Scorn. Far northeast corner of Scorn."
Go to Goth's Tavern
Ask EVERYONE in the place "Mark", because it's not obvious by looking / clicking
If you DONT find Mark (or Joey who leads you to Mark), then go back to Amy
--- Amy[30]: "mark|where|goth|goths = "I can't even go to Goth's Tavern any more because Mark and Joey are always there!"
--- Amy[30]: "joey = "Oh, Mark's friend. If you find Joey, Mark is always near by."
Joey: "Mark = "Mark loves to gamble... owes me a bunch. Always first in line to the bingo."
Joey: "bingo = Bingo is over there in that open room (southeast)
say "Mark" to everyone in bingo room
Mark: "mark = "Ya that's me. Bugger off, I'm on a roll here. O 47"
Mark: "amy = "Ya my old lady, she's kind of mad at me right now... When I hit it big she'll sing a different tune though."
[20-30>40]Mark: "goose|esmeralda = "Ok, ok, don't hurt me. I took her. Don't turn me in. If you did they'd take the goose for evidence, and then you wouldn't get the reward. I hid the that bird at Amy's place."
Go to Riverside Manor -- ransack the entire place
letters in drawer indicate "M"(ark) admiting goose is here.
Jacey: " = ""Darn bird keeps me awake all night..."
Jacey: "bird|sounds|honk|hear = "Ya! Don't ya hear that bird nearby?! HONK HONK!"
Jacey: "goose = "I suppose the bird making all those sounds could be a goose. It sounds close!"
Jacey: "amy = "She runs the place for witherspoon" - (another quest)
Jacey: "mark = "Ya good guy lets me beat him at cards all the time. Guy loves to gamble. Otherwise he's a bum."
Move by the window of Jacey Condo, hear HONK HONK - confirmed
After ransacking the entire place and finding no more clues, we are left with the "special locked door"
Amy: "special|locked|door = "Mark always keeps the key to that door with him."
Go to Goth's Tavern
[40>47]Mark: "key|special|locked|door = "Ok, ok, the key's hidden at Swabbie's house. Tell Chancy 'mumblypeg' and he'll fetch it for you."
Go to Cornerbrook Estates
Swabbie: "chancy = "Chancy is my pet sheep, and don't you make any wise cracks about it."
Chancy: "mumblypeg = (leads to Mark's Key)

Go to Riverside Manor

Down in to Riverside Manor UNDER (fight)
