- priority: 5 --> 7
Current alchemy system makes player programm script
which will do a simple formulae all the night, earning
exp. Also, they dont experiment, and they dont have to
work few weeks to find good formulae that they needed.
They just check what they can do, and they do it. Also
number of formualaes is very small.
IMHO, good system should have following properties:
- Formulaes shouldnt be fixed. Instead they should be
dependant on properties of indegredients and
calculating function. This makes uncountable number of
formulaes.
- Playes should have to experiment, before he starts to
produce large amounts of new object. He should be
patiently learning laws of alchemy. How indegredients
interact, how to prevent unpleasant situations.
- Each time player makes an recipe, it should take some
time. Alchemy currently is innaturaly fast.
- Alchemy tools should vary with their usage and
special properties. There should be tools like:
"Biologists Desk" "Herbalists Desk", something for
synthesis, something for analizis. CAuldron may have
fe.: "reduces explosion +20" "faster processing +10" or
"dimensional summoning +30".
- Alchemy indegredienmts properties shouldnt be fixed -
one should have possibility of achieving better or
worse quality results. Instead of having properties
assigned to names, lets have names assigned to
properties - if my dust have 20<A<40 0<B<20 60<C<80 and
Specials: 40<SF<60, we seacrh special file for name
suiting it - "QWERTY of ASDFG".
Those are genral ideas. My system is only one
possibility of achieving those goals. In short words:
Each alchemy objects have following properties described:
- Primary : results depends on those
- Secondary : if it might explode, is it making
reaction cool down or warm up, is it making it faster
in one way or another, or maybe slows it down?
- Specials : those are rare properties, that in normal
infdegredients are very low or zero. They make
alchenmist have to hunt daemonsm, for their hearts and
beholders for eyes.
Each alchemy object might be of one opf those following
groups:
Std. Dusts and Powders (etc) : they are cheap
indegredients with good gruops of primary properties,.
what makes them used in all recipes. They sometimes
have 1 or 2 secondary properties, mostly those
unpleasant which must be countered therefore.
Useful Ind. - They have always 1 or 2 high secondary
properties which makes them required for some recipes,
fe. to avoid cummulating a lot of summoning energy,
what could summon unpleasant creatures. They most times
have also one, rarely two primary properties that makes
alchemist use different Special Dusts for different
recipes., cause they most times not fix but spils it
(if chosen uncerrectly).
Rares - Most times only 1-5 of those is in recipe.,
cause they are used fe. to open magical potentail, to
summon doimensional powers, to crystalize mixture, or
other special events required to process harder
recipes. Of course they have 1 -23 primary propeperties
to make al;chemist think, and an unpleasant secondary
property.
"Matrixes" - Some recipes makes a special oils. If you
add matrix to those recipes, it will absorb this oil,
changing into other mnatrix. It will never result in
anything except single object.
I gotta go, will end describing this in comments.
