Good question on both counts :-) I've got no clue, unfortunately.

You will need to remove the affected .rrd files and let Cricket recreate
them, or you can use "rrdtool dump", edit the dump, and "rrdtool
restore" it (this is painful, so I'd suggest just ditching the wrong
.rrd's).
