This is a summary of what we wrote to our universitys wiki page as an introduction to this project.

This project has two formats basically.The android (handheld devices) version of it and the port of android version for deskops such as windows/ios/linux.The android version has more implementations than the deskop one.The main purpose of this program is to create opportunities for the people who wants to read e-books in a simple,easy and accessable way.But especially in the deskop version of this program hasnt got all the implementations with the android version of it and android version hasnt got many problems as the deskop one.But TSS-Toolbar is a unique problem that occurs in both of the systems but ofcourse it is more of a problem in deskop app(because of its unwieldy portal).What we are planning to do is;instead of a overlay toolbar such as it is now maybe it is better to use a shrink to read-view and dock the toolbar kind of a way for this toolbar and even put some shortcut buttons that are not frequently used in the program itself(such as arrow bars or space button) to create more reading space.Users can also use the shortcuts to make any process faster once they get used to it.We also have several android specialized ideas that cant be used in regular deskop systems like sliding down the toolbar from the top of the screen or tapping it from a really small button which can be placed at the left-top or right-top of the screen.Because that way nothing will be obscured.Discussion Page for Our Issue at Project; https://sourceforge.net/p/crengine/discussion/673936/thread/dd05b455/?limit=25#6e2f

Hi list,

I am trying CR3 on my Android tablet. It's really, well, cool.
But there is one problem.

Some of my EPUB books have U+200B (zero-width space) everywhere
(because CJK languages don't use normal spaces between words).
And CR3 displays "?" for every U+200B. That's annoying.

The raw xhtml file (extracted from the EPUB) looks like this:

You can find many occurences of "e2 80 8b" (U+200B) here.

I'd like CR3 to ignore them all.
I don't know anything about other zero-width chars,
but at least for my library, it is better to ignore them
than to render "?" on each of them.

[Crengine-devel] Open book for persons with shortsighing

First I have to state that I love cool reader. I use it on PC with Linux
nad on hardware book reader.
For me all You have done is good and best and enough (for now ;-)

But my wife mother lost part of her sight and can't read paper books. I
find out that she can use tablet (seven inches one) with Big Launcher
installed and read books with cool reader.
One problem. The menus of the program are small and somebody have to define
the profiles for her. This is not usefull but not the worst thing.

What create most problems is opening the books what she has to do herself
without assistance. When she do this coolreader go to shelves and icons and
text are to small for her.

If it is possible to have something easter and simpler like icons in Big
Launcher main screen or even bigger ones?

I dreem that all books and papers shall be at one catalog (maybe with subs)
in epub format. Then when You order to open the book (by very big icon or
by taping somewere and then on the screen You will have listing of the
books by very big and easy to see icons and text in no less then 72 font.
The list can be pushed down and up one icon and text of the book on screen
at the time. The icon have to be front page of the newspaper or the book.

If it is possible to do this? I thing the people with dissabilities will be
very thankfull. I can't code myself so I can only dreem.

[Crengine-devel] Question about "scan directory" command in Cool Reader

I am not sure whether this issue is part of the CRengine, or only in the Cool Reader app.

I used the "scan directory" command in Cool Reader so that it would build a list of ebooks on my phone's SD card.  I started the scan from the root directory of the card.  I have close to a thousand ebooks, mostly from Project Gutenberg, and mostly in Mobipocket format.  Some have the mobi file extension, some have the prc file extension.  I also have a couple of books in EPUB format, with the epub file extension.  The directory scanning process found only the two epub books, even though Moon Reader can open and display the Mobipocket books if I manually drill down to them.

Does the directory scanning process not currently support the Mobipocket format?

I had previously emailed the developer, Vadim Lopatin, directly with this question, but did not receive a reply.

I'munder Ubuntu 12.10.
I'm building package deb from  file cr3_3.0.56.orig.tar.gzwith success.

But when I'm launching the software cr3 as a normal user, I have
some error messages :
cr3 try to write the file cr3.ini in folder /usr/share/cr3
It can not load french translation from /usr/share/i18n
It cannot load  $HOME/.cr3/fb2.css

I'm attach a log file with my post.

How can I fix these problems before building the package.
