#303 Low framerate on page change when brighness is low

Device: Nexus 4 running Android 4.3.1

Details:
When using the flick screen to change brightness option, and set the brightness too low there is a noticeable framerate drop when switching pages in long (1300+ on-screen pages) books. The lower the brightness, the lower the framerate. There is also a momentary high CPU usage when switching pages. The issue is present both in scroll mode and in page mode.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enable brightness control by flick
2. Enable page change animations or scroll mode
3. Flick to a very low brightness - below 0% - the text and/or background should now be almost black.
4. Turn the page in the book.

Result:
Framerate drops and pages take noticeably more time to change.

Expected result:
Smooth page switching that is as responsive as when the brightness is high.

Additional information:
The issue appears to be relatively new.
