A weapon of electrocution discharging against a monster in water should also affect all adjacent water areas -- electricty conducts in water after all. Would be consistent, cool, and would add distinct advantage and disadvtage to that brand.

    Seconded. Theoretically, we could then go for the whole hog: it spreads in water, and loses 1/2 of its power in each step. Might be too cumbersome to worry about, though.

    Perhaps the effects of the Air spell Static Discharge could be used here, it's nice and quirky/unpredictable, already balanced, and already coded.

    And I suspect that the water found in a many-levels deep dungeon probably has impurities already :)
