I can install cppcheck 2.4.1 on a win10 computer.. but yes we have not signed it properly so you will get some warnings. that should ideally be fixed but preferably not by paying money cppcheck does not have the budget for that..

a certificate is cheaper than I thought (I thought it cost 10000+ USD) but it's still not free. does anybody volounteer to pay ~ $50-$200 / year from his pocket ...

"Microsoft Defender SmartScreen" on my PC warns about cppcheck-2.4.1-x64-Setup.msi as an unknown application, but still allows installation.
The previous 2.3 msi obviously earned some positive reputation and can be installed without warnings.
In order to be sure to avoid such warnings from Microsoft you probably need EV code signing which is more complex to appy and more expensive as well.

I don't want to say much right now, but there is an early discussion currently that would mean cppcheck project will get some funding. maybe code signing can be solved soonish.

I see that after some time the release versions can be installed,
As I understand, it takes some time for the file to be validated at Microsoft.
Thanks for the update.

Hi,
I Can install CppCheck 2.3 on windows but when I try to install 2.4.1 it does nothing.
It looks like the file is not signed and is blocked by windows
Any idea why this version acts different?
Thanks

Thanks for the response Daniel.
Can't you sign it the same way you signed version 2.3?
the older version is installed without any issues.
hmm.. as far as I know we have never signed it.

Version 2.5 cannot be installed on Windows as well, any news regarding the signing process?
I tried to get a certificate for 2.5 but failed. It would have been easier if Cppcheck was made by a proper company.

I will continue working on this and I expect that there will be a signed cppcheck in ~ 1-2 months.
It took more time. But now there is a signed option. The Cppcheck Premium that you can try out freely during November.
